There is potential with this place, which is why I feel compelled to leave this review. I do realize that I ordered food after the lunch rush on a Tuesday. Never smart.
I ordered their beef bulgogi and the temptation roll.
Beef Bulgogi - To go box was lined with foil, and food was fast, fresh, and warm. The presentation was very appealing for delivery. Bulgogi took up 1/4 of the container. It was mixed heavily with cabbage, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, the cabbage was not trimmed over well. The beef itself was thin, juicy, and lean, but lacked any seasoning at all. It was so in want of flavor that I grabbed hoisin sauce out of the fridge (I'm out of chili oil). It was so close to being really good - and could be with minor tweaks. The way the beef was shaved was perfect. Also in the box were rice (A+), a miserly helping of salad and tempura tofu. The tofu was not pressed out well and not seasoned at all. It was soggy and flavorless aside from a spicy mayo-esque drizzle. The salad was accompanied by a dressing that I had hoped was a traditional ginger or, at least peanut. I have no idea what it was, but it reminded me very much of the special sauce on a Big Mac. No thanks. Along with the bulgogi, they sent along a small ramekin of pickled zucchini (Hobak Kimchi). Decent and appreciated. Would love to see cabbage kimchi as well. The palate almost expects it with bulgogi.
Temptation Roll - I probably should have paid closer attention to the description. I did not realize the faux crab would be draped over the outside of the roll. The roll itself was simple no fuss shrimp tempura with cucumber. No seasoning. The faux crab is wrapped around the outside with only a very light drizzle of eel sauce and spicy mayo. The very plain crab dominated the roll. Might as well have been California on the inside. I ordered an add-on spicy crunch, which was more of powder than crunch. This roll would be better served with a crab, cream cheese crunchy mix on the outside. Ingredients were fresh, but the roll is easily...
Read moreWhere do I start? I use to LOVE this restaurant and it disappoints me that I am writing a low star review. The customer service was a JOKE for a restaurant that has premier selections and prices. When we arrived, we were told to sit and scan a QR code (get that this is a thing now), but when we looked hesitant, she gave us an annoyed look and never even offered to answer questions. Water was self serve, again didn't know this, so when I went to the front to ask for waters, she looked at me annoyed and pointed to it. The ice for the drinks was in a personal ice chest and looked dirty on the outside, so gross! When we received our food, once AGAIN, the silverware, condiments, everything, was self-serve. Why am I even considering giving you a tip if I am servicing my own table? The food came out family style on one plate, which was not explained, so we were reaching across from each other, dropping pieces, making it an unenjoyable way to eat. The food has definitely gone down hill flavor-wise and the portions of fish were laughable. When I went to order mochi for my two children for dessert, I asked for toppings on the side. The same waitress came out, told me they don't do that, so I politely asked if I could get ONE without toppings. She never responded, but just walked away. When they arrived out, BOTH or them were without toppings. When I went up to explain, both servers were sitting behind the counters on their phones. I knew at that point no one cared about our experience so we paid and vowed to never come back. I hope the manager/owner recognizes what's going on soon, because no way this place will stay in business long with this type of service and greedy...
Read morewhat a sweet cheap fun cute yummy tummy date spot! my wife and i came here as we wanted sushi but didnt want to go anywhere fancy as we were high as all hell and probably reeked too. the decor is immediately comforting. super casual cute. serve yourself soy sauce, FREE MISO SOUP!!!!!!!!!, ginger, wasabi station. what i dont like is you must scan the code and order like that... call me old fashioned but i prefer to look servers in their eyes and ask what their favorite thing in the menu is and gauge their reactions. this may have been a blessing in disguise tho as turns out my wife has some sort of preexisting beef with our server and she can be a spitfire! so good job with the scan codes in this specific instance. we ordered far too much, couldn't ever eat all of it, all pretty good. sushi was the best part, the fried calamari was good too. i did not enjoy the spicy crab spring roll. the crab was mostly spicy mayonnaise and the dipping sauce was also spicy mayonnaise, just simply too much mayonnaise i think. didn't expect or want so much, if any, mayonnaise. hot sake and beer!!!!! the sake cups were extra teeny tiny too so cute i wanted to just swallow one. a really great casual date...
