For our USC alumni gamewatches we've long looked for a home, a place where we could sit back, relax, enjoy the football, and be treated well. So many bars are so UT oriented that a USC fan can't get any priority. We are often bumped for games with crowds of 5 or less, while we bring 30-50.
Not at Mister Tramp's. Mister Tramp's is friendly, laid back, and was completely happy not only to host us, but to give us priority seating in the back room whenever possible. Their back room features sofas, chairs, and a single massive projector that everyone can watch the game on. When we're not in the back room we're in the lounge, where we can see all the games just fine anyway. The food is excellent and well-priced, I especially like the pizza and the fish and chips. Some of the appetizers are plated just gorgeously, especially for a sports bar. The drink specials are crazy fun too. 2 dollar mimosas on Saturdays, 3 dollar wells all around, cheap beer, custom shots, the list goes on and on. Meanwhile the management has been nothing but crazy friendly and hospitable. We love Mister Tramp's and can't wait to go back over...
Read moreMe and my coworker love this bar! The STAFF are what makes any bar worth coming back to, and we always come back for Dante - excellent service, great to talk to, extremely attentive, professional, but he's not the only one. Brandon, Hillary, and every bartender here is very professional and attentive, and obviously service industry vets who know how to take care of their people. Really good selection of liquor, found my new favorite vodka here at Hillary's recommendation. And the porch is perfect, lots of tables, a good amount of privacy, and everyone who comes to this bar is very FRIENDLY. The music is never obnoxious, and they do show the big games when they're on. It's a little divey in the best way but it's always clean. And I trust the food I order from here as well. I can't say enough good about the service though!! Thank you to this crew, this is "my bar" in Austin!
(P.s. Happy Birthday, Dante! Sorry we couldn't come by on the day of, but I was thinking of you and excited for you for a great New Year...
Read moreI was actually here for a reason other than sports or drinking. Saul Ravencraft hosted his Vault of Horror in their back room. We gathered to watch Creepshow, hear trivia and spend time with other fans of horror.
I had the chips and queso and pecan porter. Both were excellent, although in my opinion, the beer could have been served colder. The queso was really good, cheesy and creamy, served with crisp tortilla chips and garnished with raw onion, fresh jalapeño and diced tomatoes.
My friend had their friend pickles and a cocktail, both of which she enjoyed. I tried one of the fried pickles and they were some of the best I've had.
Overall we didn't experience the sports bar as it was intended, but the service was great, the restroom was clean and the queso and pickles were...
