How do you best avoid these titanic 100+ degree temperatures? By finding a patch of ice to skate on! The sport of ice hockey really hooks you when you join like-minded teammates and feel that brisk coolness hit your face. The Pond Hockey Club has a great novice league in C2 and goes all the way up to AA so you have a place to start and something to work towards. With all of the safety gear in place, it's very safe and fun to place such a challenging and heart-pounding sport.
On top of that, they have a lot of services, like skate sharpening, to help keep your skates in top shape. The polite and courteous staff are amazing and very helpful for anything you need.
It's not all perfect - running an ice rink in Texas can be a difficult thing but they do their best to have the best ice product they can present. Read moreI love playing hockey at the Pond. Great staff, good ice, good ref’s. I have been playing every season at the Pond for 3 and a half years. I love playing every Thursday. My work and personal schedule have every Thursday blocked off so I can make the games.
As of the 10/2017 season they changed up the league. Gone are the random Saturdays that everyone hated. They have also lowered the price. If you are reading this then you might not know many players had issues with the scheduling in prior seasons. The Pond has listened to their players and changed it for the better. You don't know how refreshing it is to have a good business that works to better themselves based on their customers wants and needs. Good job Pond...

As far as refs go, brutal. Murphy and his younger partner need very much improvement. Very emotional officiating, as seems commonly here. Also showed up 15 minutes late. The large, older ref Ort is even worse. He not only does not know the game at all, but also is constantly in the way and in the wrong position. I will not be returning to the pond for a 4th season if the refs that are hired do not improve.
$15 is a bit high for a skate sharpening but they do a good job. Rink is always clean and well lit.
Overall, good for beginer and...
