Worst bar I’ve ever been to in Austin, and I tried quite some. The experience was so bad that it pushed me to write my first review. Prior to a champions league match, I called the tavern to ask if they would have showed the specific match I wanted to watch (there were gonna be 2 at the same time), and they said there was no problem as I just had to ask to the bartender once there (as the website also specifies). Once arrived (after a 45 minutes walk under the sun) and having very kindly asked, the guy at the bar arrogantly said he was not going to put up that game, but just the other one. I asked why (given that there were TVs that no one was looking at, with empty tables) and he just arrogantly said that was what it was. I explained that I called and asked and came specifically for the game, and he still said he was going to do nothing about it, and that they were only gonna show the other game. I asked then why - if that was the case - there was a tv on with a baseball game that only one man was watching and why he couldn’t do the same for me if having a minimum number of people watching was the issue, and he faked to agree and to be about to change the channel for that tv too. But he then actually just kept it how it was. While I was walking out, I heard him laughing with the other bartender saying “that worked out”, referred to the fake agreeing to my request to be coherent, with the same tone that an high school boy showing off for having been rude with a girl would have had. Guess what, I am a woman. Man, you should take care of your insecurities by going to therapy, and not by telling yourself you’re a strong man because you deny a girl a soccer match. This is not what a...

After going to the UT vs Florida game, we were looking for a place to grab some food and drinks. Saw The Tavern had some great reviews and decided to check it out. The place was packed with college football fans and the atmosphere seemed great. We ordered the nachos and the mozzarella sticks as we thought appetizers would be a safe choice with the amount of people that were inside. It took almost 45 minutes to get the food and when it came out, I thought it was a joke. The mozzarella sticks were actually amazing, but these nachos were the most ridiculous nachos I have ever seen in my life. I think Napoleon Dynamite made better nachos than what we were served. It was 3 tortillas cut in half, smeared with refried beans and sprinkled with shredded cheese. If you’re hungry, I’d recommend not coming here while they are busy. If you want beer or drinks, you’ll probably be safe at anytime here. Whatever you do, do not get the nachos, Taco Bell nachos are far superior and way cheaper than this...

We met up with some friends for Happy Hour! It’s been years since we had been here and excited to try out the food and drinks.

Well, happy hour drinks are not the same as listed on the website. Only 2 signature drinks are HH price, all others are full price. Some menu items are not on the appetizer menu as listed on website. Unfortunately they didn’t have a list of HH items and said the website must be wrong.

Waitress was playing on her phone so it took a long time to get our order in. We were there for about 2 hours and had a great time. Service could have been more attentive being it was almost empty, and we would have spent more if she checked on us more often and got off her phone.

We did finally try a few things and I have to say the Mahomes fries were fantastic! So was the chicken fried steak, veggies and fish tacos. The nachos, ok. Not exciting, would not order again. The chicken wings with Thai chili sauce was delicious. Lots of great things on the menu to...

Came here to meet up with old friends before my buddy’s wedding day. The menu was full of a lot of great options. I ended up trying the Cadillac burger which was 8 oz grass fed burger patty, topped with melted cheddar cheese, sauteed mushrooms, crispy fried onion rings, and A1 mayo. The burger was not as messy as I would have thought it to be given it had onion rings on it and kept its stature very well. Although, by the time it came out the bottom bun was a bit soggy. On the side I ordered more onion rings (I love a good onion ring). If there is one thing the Tavern does well, it is fried food. Their onion rings were thick cut and well battered. I also got to try their Panko mozarella which were delightfully gooey. Careful though, eat them too quickly and you might burn yourself… eat them too slow, and they’ll loose their gooeyness. If you’re looking for a fun pub to hang out and connect with ol-friends while Eaton delicious comfort American foods this is the place!

The Tavern is basically running a parking scam. Their lot is right next to Waterloo Records and looks like it’s part of the same lot, but it’s not. The signs saying it’s only for Tavern customers are tiny and easy to miss. An employee responsible for booting cars was present and visibly watched us park and walk into Waterloo without offering any warning or clarification. As soon as we entered the store, he placed a sticker on our car and booted it and charged us $100. It was clear he was waiting for us to leave the vehicle to issue the boot, rather than informing us of the restriction. He even admitted he boots a ton of cars every day because people don’t notice the signs. If we’d known or been warned, we never would’ve parked there. It feels like they’re taking advantage of visitors just to make money off unsuspecting people. Don’t come to this scamming restaurant, they take advantage of people to make extra money.
