Pease Park in Austin, Texas is nothing short of delightful — a green and vibrant gem right alongside downtown. With its gorgeous live oaks, limestone cliffs formed by the Shoal Creek Greenbelt, and 84 acres of thoughtfully designed space, it truly embodies what makes Austin feel like home.
The recent Kingsbury Commons renovation is a standout feature: this southern hub includes shaded picnic lawns, a modern play area, zip-pockets, and an interactive splash pad featuring dancing water jets—perfect for families on hot days. Kids and adults alike love the unique Treehouse Observation Pod—a stunning two-story seed‑pod structure you can climb inside or lounge across on a netted floor for treetop views of the hillside and Austin skyline. It’s also ADA accessible.
Trails stretch northward into quieter zones like Live Oak Meadow, Wooten Woods, and Lamar Terrace—ideal for peaceful walking, birdwatching, or snapping photos of wildflowers and bluff views near the limestone canyon.
Pease Park isn’t just a space—it’s a vibrant community that hosts beloved local traditions including Eeyore’s Birthday Party every April, lively Pride Picnics each summer, and seasonal fitness and storytelling events.
Accessibility shines here, with shaded playgrounds, accessible restrooms, crushed‑granite trails wide enough for wheelchair users, ADA‐compliant restrooms and parking, all thoughtfully integrated.
The Conservancy’s stewardship has also introduced artistic touches like Thomas Dambo’s recycled‑material troll sculpture, owl houses dotting the treetops, and restored historic features including the Tudor Cottage. The project has earned sustainability and architectural awards across Texas.
Overall, Pease Park offers something for everyone: adventurous kids, families cooking out, dog walkers enjoying off‑leash play in designated areas, nature lovers seeking respite, or folks just strolling the King’s Commons lawn under the canopy of oaks. It’s free, well-maintained, and perfectly balanced between nature, history, recreation, and community—absolutely worth visiting...
Read moreThis park is absolutely fantastic and such a great gem to have an Austin.
I wanted to find some place to stretch our legs after the road trip to come to Austin and I am so glad to have found this park.
The observatory is such a fun place but I thought that it would be for children and when we went there I was surprised to see that lots of adults and teenagers were on it, which is totally fine but not what I had expected. So we had children that wanted to run and play while there were a lot of adults laying around and we didn't want want to disturb them but it seems like a bad idea to just bring food and sit over there.
The netting does get uncomfortable and I don't like the fact that there are just rocks and stuff on the bottom--I would feel a little bit better if there was at least some type of cushioning or something but I am so happy that they had this type of thing over there to begin with. The park itself is really cool and the young children we had with us in our group really enjoyed climbing and hanging around. The walking trail was really nice and I am happy to see that Austin has...
Read moreWe decided to take a trip for spring break a few spring breaks back and it may have been an afterthought but the memories made were anything but thanks to beautiful scenery just like here at this park. It’s immaculately well manicured and very well kept, no trash was visible anywhere which I thought was extremely impressive. This was our first time renting one of the scooters which happened to be located close to the park at any given time which was pretty neat. My little brother was in law school at the time so he was familiar with all the spots to take us to and we were so grateful for each of them. We ended up wanting to go for a little while but we spent the entire afternoon almost until dark, because there was so much beauty outside of the grounds also artworks/mural scene in the background of one of my photos, and the playground was massively sized and my 3 children loved climbing the neat treat that’s uniquely shaped just right for that you almost can’t help but jump on and it makes for one heck of a photo opp! Another lovely attraction to see while...
