Who's running this place anyway?! Who ever it is needs to step out of the dark ages and step into the year 2024.
Homeless people sleep in front of the door at night and all over the community grounds, they closed for 2 weeks for "remodeling" and the whole interior is exactly the same as it was before they closed.
There are hornet nests above the front door, the parking lot has not been seal coated in who knows how many years, there is trash all over the grounds, and the maintenance person still gets a paycheck! For what?! Keeping things the same as they were in 1984?!
If that's the case, then give that man a raise. Otherwise can captain 'live by minimum standards" please pay this place a visit...
Honestly, this place has some rich history and could be very valuable to the community if run property.....
I'm updating my review 7 months latter....
In that time, the parking lot of this Landmark Austin TX, Community Center has gotten sooo much worse. Does anyone care?!
I took pictures of the "giant craters" in the parking lot and sent them to Austin "311". Their response "private property", ticket closed....
The beautiful ACC building literally has raw sewage not only expelling into the House Park Parking lot, but it floods the entire yard from the staircase to the skate park and then spills over into the parking lot.
And what's up with the dude in the White Van who spews his trash all over the property and openly sells drugs to the kids in the community?!
Please tell me why no one in the entire ACC organization, the owners of No-Comply Skate Shop, Management of House Park Community Center, Every person who has attended a football game at the shared field, local authorities, or the City of Austin doesn't seem to care about this?!
Before moving here in November, I was so excited to move to beautiful Austin Texas, the 10th Largest City in America. The fastest growing and most progressive City that this country has to offer....
"Keeping it Weird!"
Well, this is weird......
But
Not at all in a good...
Read moreI've visited several cities and I always seek to find out if they have a community recreation center. Why? Well, most recreation centers have weight rooms, and they're free for the community to utilize. Surprisingly enough many cities don't have a community recreation center so the YMCA or gym is the next option.
Austin, Texas does have a community recreation center and low and behold there's a weight room with plenty of dumbbells, weight machines and even a pull up and dip bar. I just finished doing a light bicep and calisthenics 40 minute workout.
Let's also add there's also showers in the ladies and gentlemen bathroom. On top of this the recreation center has all different kinds of programs. As I was walking out the door I seen ladies setting up to play volleyball.
The employees are respectful, and the atmosphere is easy going. Across from the center is a skating park, and although I only come around once in a while I notice that the park is always packed with skateboarders. The center is also on a descent side of downtown, and so I've never seen any riffraff.

Read moreThe Austin Recreation Center website clearly states that they host badminton open play Wednesdays at 7 (as pictured). I even called today (Wednesday) to confirm badminton was happening tonight, and was told by a staff member that it was. However, when I arrived, I was told by the front desk that badminton is only every other Wednesday and was therefore not happening today. One never ceases to be amazed by the complete inability of city services to successfully execute even the most rudimentary organizational functions—such as producing and then accurately...
