I got married here last week on May 22, 2016, and this little house was absolutely beautiful! Both sides of the family loved it and I heard nothing but great things from my guests about the house itself. Bryan is wonderful and even though they're only open for two hours on weekdays, communication was okay. The reason I'm giving this three stars is because of the other employee, Craig. When I first met him and talked with him he was extremely helpful and professional. The day of the wedding comes and I hear from my in-laws, my bridesmaids, and some of my guests that he was rude to them.
I told both Bryan and Craig from the beginning that there were no caterers because my in-laws were doing the food. My mother-in-law comes in the kitchen with the food and he raised his voice, almost yelling at her asking if she's the caterer and that she can't do this, can't do that, and only when she said she was the mother of the groom and didn't know what was allowed did he become helpful. Whether a caterer or not that's not professional. If a caterer hadn't been to that house before they should still be treated with respect.
I heard from my bridesmaids that he was yelling at them as well. We didn't have much time to get ready as it was on a Sunday and we only had five hours there- the first and last hour are required for setting up and clean up so that leaves three hours for the ceremony and reception. Both Bryan and Craig kept saying I could purchase more hours for $200/per. In trying to save money we didn't want to do that, so we had little time.
As the bride, I would've had a much better time knowing my family and close friends were treated professionally and not yelled at. Bryan is wonderful, Craig was too at first and I understand that he was probably just trying to say what's not allowed, but yelling and being rude about it isn't helpful, professional,...
Read moreWe are so happy that we chose the Caswell House as our venue for our wedding. As someone who grew up in Austin and would go to the Caswell every Christmas, this place was already special to me. I knew when we toured the space that it would be perfect for our small wedding. I was nervous when management at the Caswell changed hands prior to our wedding, but was instantly put at ease by Kelly, the new event manager! Kelly was incredible to work with as she was exceptionally kind and helpful. She helped our wedding go off without a hitch, and helped us get the space event-ready prior to the wedding day. The Caswell is a gorgeous venue, leaving no real need to decorate as the space is already beautiful. It was easy to match our color scheme to the aesthetics of the Caswell since it is already so beautifully curated. I highly recommend the Caswell for your intimate...
