Story time Torchy's. I've lived in South Austin so long that I started my relationship with you at that dumpy ass house on S. 1st. Then, I personally approved your fire sprinkler system at the SoCo location because I work for AusFD. So we got history. My 1st two tacos were the Republican and the Democrat.
It took you a while but I am so happy you showed up at SoCo and Ralph Ablanedo. Please take the time to learn about Ralph Ablanedo. He gave his life protecting this great City.
Torchy's is sexy. Awesome tacos, fantastic vibes and properly prepared cocktails. And you have a badass woman named Stephanie at Ralph Ablanedo. She's always got a smile and her crew takes care of business. She knows me and always greets me with my iced tea cup when I'm workings. When I'm not working she makes me my favorite cocktail.
I'm telling you this because I love Stephanie because she and everyone at Ralph Ablanedo makes me smile. They do that with green tomatillo and pork tacos on corn tacos. Three of them. At least twice a week. And it always so good and I make a mess when I'm eating them.
So you should do something really nice for Stephanie, Seven, Laurel and the crew at the Ralph Ablanedo location. Give them some extra money, take them somewhere nice, and talk about how much an old Hazmat guy who lives in South Austin loves your food.
I'm glad you found your way home to South Austin. Don't change anything other than the Taco of the Month.
Oh, one more thing: you need give the young man who keeps the restaurant clean a raise. That guy works his butt off.
I'll see you at...
Read moreFried avocado and tipsy chick have come out literally cold, not even lukewarm protein the last few times. So disappointing compared to the quality y’all used to have. When we went to the bar to order some margaritas the bartender literally cringed when we mentioned the idea of swirling flavors in the frozen, then proceeded to tell us why the process was annoying thereby talking us out of what we wanted—which is an option on the menu. Why have it if you’re gonna hire lazy bartenders who don’t wanna do it because it’s a pain? We wanted to close the tab and take our drinks outside to wait for our food, but he never took my card I left out very obviously placed at the edge of the counter to start one and didn’t even ask me if I wanted to leave it open or close it. We ended up sitting down and having to eat at the bar as we waited for him to have a moment free as he ignored us and asked the next 6 people what they wanted to do with their tab. 30 minutes later he finally noticed it. Then we heard the bartender and some other employee bragging to one another about making “easy money”, overall worst Torchy’s experience ever. got rid of lil nookies and sold out for the $. also, a simple brisket and cheese quesadilla is NOT a taco and seems like a lazy pick for “taco” of the month. you can’t put parenthesis around it and think it’s passable. what a joke. I used to go to your food truck with my dog and Torchy’s was my favorite place...
Read moreWould give 0 stars if I could. I’ve honestly never had an issue somewhere like this before and I am not one to crap on places but seriously just drive the extra bit to the next closest location. Tried to order online. Online ordering messed up so was told I would get a phone call when my order was ready, waited 40 minutes and nada. Called and just asked for an update on my order, verbatim was told “yes”. So my order is ready? “yes”… okay great. Go in to get it, nice don’t get me wrong but get home and forgot to check my order because I trust nicer places. Mistake, wrong size side, $2 extra for a half filled smaller side. My “Big a$$” quesadilla is literally less than an inch thick. And my burrito was made wrong.
I was going to settle and didn’t even think to write this but called to ask about remaking the burrito because my husband doesn’t do sour cream or pico, and was told I entered it wrong and it was make correctly. So when you go in the app to order, “up to 4” does not mean choose your topping, but which ones you don’t want? The app clearly is stating to build it but put that aside, just remake it and don’t tell me I was wrong.
Food is all not even good, I’ve had much better torchys. Just save your dollars and don’t spend $50 on a dinner you’ll get the same satisfaction from if you went to McDonalds. At least they have better customer...
