🔥🤠 Weekend Warrior Guide to Austin, Texas (Part 1)

This Torchy’s location never misses! It’s conveniently located and offers plenty of parking to dine-in. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. We were surprised when we walked in to two new kiosks for self-ordering. There is still one employee available to take orders which is nice. We opted to try the kiosks and were pleasantly surprised at all the options to modify. It took us longer than expected but it was because of modifying our orders. When there’s long lines, I bet those kiosks will come in handy! We will probably opt in for the live employee. We love the rewards program as they will randomly offer us free chips & queso to entice us to come in. I will say Torchy’s queso is one of the top queso’s in Austin, Tx. There I said it. It’s so good but does have a little kick to it. Some say it’s spicy others say it’s perfect. I love that their chips are thin and made in house. I usually go for their chicken salad which is so delicious and flavorful! But they just recently added more salads and bowls and I will have to try them all. My husband really likes the barbacoa and the Baja shrimp tacos! We always love their aguas frescas. The flavors must rotate as they always have something different. You definitely need to try this Torchy’s location!

Update ... still receiving COLD tacos that should be hot and missing things from to go orders like pico and salsa. Rarely go here anymore because of this. Honestly, I just ordered my tacos a few minutes ago, WHY are the eggs cold? Seriously, subpar torchys location. Too bad. Oh, and fried tater tots!?! Gross! Loved the potatoes but fried tots, not so much. Bummer. Look, ...yall can do better. I believe in you. I love love love love love your tacos but this location has issues: our orders are incorrect, cold or missing items regularly and they get swamped easy, like can NOT handle any kind of rush, and why does this Pico look like it was salvaged from the trash? It has a teaspoon of Pico in the 1oz cup. Please, we're so happy to have a Torchy's close to home now, and we eat here at least once or twice a week. The customer facing staff is usually super Texas nice. I'm not sure what the deal is with the expo/kitchen issues, but I'd like to be able to give yall 5 stars.

Story time Torchy's. I've lived in South Austin so long that I started my relationship with you at that dumpy ass house on S. 1st. Then, I personally approved your fire sprinkler system at the SoCo location because I work for AusFD. So we got history. My 1st two tacos were the Republican and the Democrat.

It took you a while but I am so happy you showed up at SoCo and Ralph Ablanedo. Please take the time to learn about Ralph Ablanedo. He gave his life protecting this great City.

Torchy's is sexy. Awesome tacos, fantastic vibes and properly prepared cocktails. And you have a badass woman named Stephanie at Ralph Ablanedo. She's always got a smile and her crew takes care of business. She knows me and always greets me with my iced tea cup when I'm workings. When I'm not working she makes me my favorite cocktail.

I'm telling you this because I love Stephanie because she and everyone at Ralph Ablanedo makes me smile. They do that with green tomatillo and pork tacos on corn tacos. Three of them. At least twice a week. And it always so good and I make a mess when I'm eating them.

So you should do something really nice for Stephanie, Seven, Laurel and the crew at the Ralph Ablanedo location. Give them some extra money, take them somewhere nice, and talk about how much an old Hazmat guy who lives in South Austin loves your food.

I'm glad you found your way home to South Austin. Don't change anything other than the Taco of the Month.

Oh, one more thing: you need give the young man who keeps the restaurant clean a raise. That guy works his butt off.

I'll see you at...

Fried avocado and tipsy chick have come out literally cold, not even lukewarm protein the last few times. So disappointing compared to the quality y’all used to have. When we went to the bar to order some margaritas the bartender literally cringed when we mentioned the idea of swirling flavors in the frozen, then proceeded to tell us why the process was annoying thereby talking us out of what we wanted—which is an option on the menu. Why have it if you’re gonna hire lazy bartenders who don’t wanna do it because it’s a pain? We wanted to close the tab and take our drinks outside to wait for our food, but he never took my card I left out very obviously placed at the edge of the counter to start one and didn’t even ask me if I wanted to leave it open or close it. We ended up sitting down and having to eat at the bar as we waited for him to have a moment free as he ignored us and asked the next 6 people what they wanted to do with their tab. 30 minutes later he finally noticed it. Then we heard the bartender and some other employee bragging to one another about making “easy money”, overall worst Torchy’s experience ever. got rid of lil nookies and sold out for the $. also, a simple brisket and cheese quesadilla is NOT a taco and seems like a lazy pick for “taco” of the month. you can’t put parenthesis around it and think it’s passable. what a joke. I used to go to your food truck with my dog and Torchy’s was my favorite place...

Would give 0 stars if I could. I’ve honestly never had an issue somewhere like this before and I am not one to crap on places but seriously just drive the extra bit to the next closest location. Tried to order online. Online ordering messed up so was told I would get a phone call when my order was ready, waited 40 minutes and nada. Called and just asked for an update on my order, verbatim was told “yes”. So my order is ready? “yes”… okay great. Go in to get it, nice don’t get me wrong but get home and forgot to check my order because I trust nicer places. Mistake, wrong size side, $2 extra for a half filled smaller side. My “Big a$$” quesadilla is literally less than an inch thick. And my burrito was made wrong.

I was going to settle and didn’t even think to write this but called to ask about remaking the burrito because my husband doesn’t do sour cream or pico, and was told I entered it wrong and it was make correctly. So when you go in the app to order, “up to 4” does not mean choose your topping, but which ones you don’t want? The app clearly is stating to build it but put that aside, just remake it and don’t tell me I was wrong.

Food is all not even good, I’ve had much better torchys. Just save your dollars and don’t spend $50 on a dinner you’ll get the same satisfaction from if you went to McDonalds. At least they have better customer...
