Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Austin

I’ve been attending this particular store for quite some time now over the last year and a half. Or since it opened, and I’ve always enjoyed the lunch there and the smoothies. However, over the last couple of months, I’ve noticed that the smoothies have fallen off considerably. They consistently have chunks of ice and chunks of fruit, not blended all the way. It even got the point where I had to put it back in a blender when I got back to work because the chucks were so thick that the straw would get clogged with fruit. I think maybe it might be an issue with the blenders because my wife ended up ordering some tropical smoothie from another location, and it was miles better and completely blended and wasn’t missing ingredients. I even asked my wife what smoothie this was and she said it was the same one I always get, and I was shocked. Other than that, the store is great, the food comes out quick, and some of the employees have been nothing short of great customer service. But somebody needs to really quality check the smoothies that are coming out of this place in the middle of the day, it might be a bad blender because they are strongly...

My first visit, came in with my son for a kids smoothie. After ordering, we waited 10 minutes, I was informed it might another 10-15min before they would have the 1 smoothie ready. We had to get going, so I asked for a refund.

The friendly young man had the manager come over to process the refund. She refused to make eye contact with me, didn’t ask why I was requesting a refund or offer apology/explanation. Just processed it with a rude look and turned around. It caught me off guard that she had no interest what so ever in why I asked for a refund or any positives words at all, I guess they have so much business they don’t care.

I’m pretty blown away by my most recent trip to this Tropical Smoothie location. I didn’t get her name, but I think it was Ashley. She gave us incredible service, was super knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients, and she went above and beyond multiple times in the same visit. I don’t think it’s too dramatic to say that if all customer service jobs had the same caliber of quality that Ashley and the team at this location have, the world would be a better place. My family and I will be Tropical Smoothie customers for life because of this trip. I’m not sure what the workers make as their hourly wage at this location, but it should be substantially more.
