During the Electrical Debacle of 2023 we needed dinner. No electricity so we had to find a restaurant open. We found a food truck serving authentic Thai street food near our home so we were excited.

We knew we could order on a food delivery app but some places on the Internet implied more choices than the delivery app so we went to see for ourselves. On that day they had four entrees and a salad available, plus water, Thai tea, and coconut water.

When we arrived there were a few people waiting but mostly we were alone. We placed our orders and Pina let us know it would be a wait. She alone was taking the orders, doing the cooking and prep, and boxing the entrees. We sat in our car to wait and ten or so people came up and got their (presumably ordered ahead) meals. We took this popularity as a good sign.

During the 45 minutes or so we waited there were the most mouth watering smells coming from the truck. I was hungry already but the scents let me know I was in for an experience.

She signaled our food was ready and we picked it up. She kept apologizing for how long it took, recommending we order ahead on the app (which I recommend for future trips, but going to the truck, the first time lets me feel more like I know what I’m getting). She smiled and engaged us in some friendly banter, asked our names (winning over my introverted heart) and said she hoped to see us again. She also told me she didn’t make mine spicy, but had taped a packet of red pepper seeds to add spice if I needed it.

When we got home and passed out the food we could hear munching in the dark (no power, remember) and happy food sighs. The food was spicy enough to make us all sweat a bit but also had a distinctive sweetness to it. (Please note - I did not add the extra pepper seeds) My Pad See Ew with tofu had noodles that were chewy and delicious. Everyone agreed this was excellent Thai food and we all enjoyed it.

We will definitely be back to support this small business, but also… you should have tasted this stuff!! In fact, go do that. Right now! Be sure to buy a tall can of roasted coconut juice or a Thai tea....

Weladee really impressed me, and I have tried a lot of Austin Thai food. The pad ka prow was flavorful and featured an array of veggies to go along with your protein choice (I went with chicken), the rice was cloud fluffy, and the egg was perfectly fried on the outside while the yolk was still liquid and soaked into the rice.

I ordered the maximum spice level and it left my lips tingling for 10 minutes. No joke -- when I ate the leftovers inside with AC running, the fiery food fogged my glasses -- bring that heat! Serving size was quite generous and I got two full meals out of it.

My lady ordered the green curry (available in regular, vegetarian, or vegan options) and said it just might be the best green curry she has ever had.

It isn't a giant menu, but the owner seems to embrace the ethos of cooking a few dishes to perfection, and I won't argue with that.

One of four food trailers in a shared space, the spot includes a number of picnic benches for dining and big trees for shade. We called ahead and the food was ready twenty minutes later when we arrived, but the area is definitely nice enough to relax in with a few friends if you want to order in person and wait.

I'm always amazed when I see a place with a 5.0 Google review, but when you do everything right, there isn't much for the reviewers to complain about. Weladee does everything right.

The lady running the trailer was quite nice, and everything inside looked extremely clean. But I honestly wouldn't have cared if she glared at me from a filthy cave, I would still eat it up and go back for seconds.

We are already talking about going back, so do yourself a favor and check it out before we eat...

What a Hidden Gem! As someone who has traveled across the U.S. and dined at over 200 Thai restaurants, I can confidently say I know my Thai food. Only about 5% of places make it to my coveted 5-star list—and this food truck is one of them!

The flavors here are absolutely amazing, proving that great food doesn’t need a fancy restaurant setting. The menu may be limited, but everything is 100% gluten-free and packed with flavor.

We tried the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Papaya Salad, and every dish was fantastic. The portions were generous, the seasoning was on point, and the overall quality blew us away.

To top it off, the service was exceptional. I had the chance to chat with the owner, who is as sweet as she is passionate about her craft.

If you’re looking for outstanding Thai food—especially if you need gluten-free options—this place is a must-try....

Maybe the best place I’ve eaten at in Austin! The food here is so fresh, flavorful, and delicious! We enjoyed the pad thai, pad see ew, thai tea, and mango sticky rice. Every bite made me want to eat more! They make their own seafood stock and you can really taste the freshness and depth of flavor. I loved the cook on the veggies in the pad see ew- perfect texture! Make sure to save room for dessert as the mango sticky rice was a perfect level of sweetness and the flavor super balanced- just amazing! The portion sizes felt generous to us and we had leftovers for later. The owner is super friendly and kind as well! They recommend calling in your order ahead of time if possible. 11/10! We don’t live super close but will definitely be back- it’s worth it! I want to try all the dishes!
