Update: frustrated with Tysons for a variety of reasons, mostly supply chain issues. I live very close and 50% of the time I go there they're out of the at least one taco you just ordered. It seems like every time I go they're out of something. Pretty frustrating, loss of two stars, because of how consistent that is.. Resolve these issues and five stars definitely. ... Oh yeah, and last time they wanted to charge me a dollar, which seemed like an ambiguous figure they made up at the time, because I wanted an extra green sauce. I was getting seven tacos for me and my friends and one green sauce was too much more, $1 more, in fact. They're stingy with their sauce apparently. When asked, the two employees gave different answers on how many sauces came with a three taco plate, or one taco at a time. I don't think there is a policy, I just think a number of the young people that have been working there in the last couple years are ... assho.... unkind/unreasonable. Given I've had a bad experience there yet another time, And I've been eating at this place for 12 years, loss of another star. This place could so easily be a five star joint if the above problems were fixed. Somebody got some proper management and posted policy in here. Post it so customers can see it. Or... don't be stingy with the damn green sauce.

Complaints aside... Tyson's Tacos have some of the best modern tacos in town. Between this and a couple other joints in town, certainly one of the best. They have a good variety of vegetarian and breakfast tacos, paired with some really awesome meat Taco goodness. I would tend to avoid the traditional Mexican tacos here and go for the designer tacos. The brisket/burnt ends is really nice, pork belly, Diablo shrimp, surf and turf, ... There are so many good ones. For traditional Mexican tacos you can go to a more traditional Mexican taco place. 😍

Also: my favorite taco on the menu used to be called The Prince Taco but only with the prince logo. It was probably the best Taco on the menu, with a pecan encrusted fish, raspberry pico de gallo, goat cheese, it was excellent. It disappeared from the menu some 9+ years ago and I've missed it ever since. Bring back the Prince Taco! Make it more expensive if you have to! It was the crown at the top of the taco menu, because it is...

It's frustrating, and frankly, EMBARRASSING that in a state like Texas, known for its deep ties to Mexican and Tex-Mex culinary traditions, that THIS is the taco spot that garners such popularity in Austin. Tyson's Tacos has become a go-to name, yet what it consistently delivers is lukewarm, dry and uninspired food that would never survive in California, where taco culture thrives in authenticity, flavor, and pride.

We are Texas! Tacos should be our thing! But somehow, California is running laps around us, with high-quality, street-style tacos on nearly every corner. The fact that an establishment like this is considered a staple here feels like a slap in the face to our cultural potential. Ain't nobody gonna say nuthin!?!?!!!

What's worse is that this isn't just a one-off bad experience. The meat is consistently dry. The food is CONSISTENTLY served lukewarm...borderline room temperature...and that alone should raise food safety questions. But beyond temperature, where is the care? The seasoning? The soul? I had some duck tacos so dry that I almost choked swallowing them. What is going on?

It's clear the management has chosen this low standard. That's what stings the most. You have the opportunity to represent Austin proudly with something exceptional, but instead, you double down on mediocrity and convenience, pushing out subpar food to customers who deserve better. The long lines don't validate the quality. But they do enable the mediocrity to continue.

Y'all...Even BASIC Tex-Mex joints outshine Tyson's in flavor, authenticity, and execution. This place could be so much more...but it clearly doesn't want to be. That's...

My husband and I have been coming to Tyson's since we moved to Austin over 2 years ago, and we used to RAVE about this place to all our friends. Key word, USED to. Lately, both service and quality has taken a turn for the worst, and I am severely disappointed. Discounting our last experience with online ordering in which we were left waiting for over an hour after driving there, I tried to give them one last chance.

Not busy, no other cars in the parking lot when I pulled up this morning. Ordered two Migas tacos and a Dirty Horchata. No horchata ready; okay, no worries, asked for OJ. No OJ...okay, not a big deal. I forgo drinks for just the tacos, which I added in an extra item. Wait about 10 minutes, no biggie, I can see they still are getting online orders in. I was delayed in getting my change because they hadn't yet set up the register for cash. All these things aren't bothersome to me at all. I am a very patient and understanding person.

I get my tacos, get in my car and count my change. Short 10 cents.....really weird, but again, I try not to make a fuss about it. Then I go to eat my tacos, contemplate that it feels lighter than it should, and realize they didn't even bother putting in the extra item I asked for. So not only did you short me change, you charged me extra for an item you didn't put in my tacos?!?!?! I can't even get a refund either, because I paid cash and I have to be at work!!

Last straw Tyson's. I don't know if there is new management or what is going on, but I will absolutely never come here again, and that makes me sad because I know how good...
