Dr Scott Smith is incompetent. I went in for a hamstring injury and after two X-rays he told me I didn’t tear anything and there was nothing to be done except ice and rest. After suffering immense pain all weekend I messaged him and asked if the X-rays were correct because of the pain and location of all the pain, not just the hip area. He said I had a tear and the X-rays were correct. Remember on the visit he said I had no pain!? Liar
Over the weekend I looked for my own remedies and compression was suggested. It helps tremendously and he never told be about compression He also said he wouldn’t prescribe a temp handicap placard because I wasn’t handicapped. I can’t walk without assistance. I am handicapped temporarily, I have had one for a broken foot before. This is not much different.
Update Thursday (6 days after injury): I got a 2nd opinion today and I wish this would've been the first doc I had chosen and not Dr. Smith. I went to an ARC Orthopedic doc and he was so amazing. I didn't even realize how bad the x-ray tech at Tx Orthopedics was till I had to have x-rays again today (because Tx Ortho failed to send my x-rays to ARC or ARA, as I had requested on Monday). The tech I had today was so nice, he explained the entire procedure so well, he listened to me when I said a certain position for my leg hurt. The girl at Tx Ortho said to straighten my leg and I could not without severe pain but she didn't care. They also put on my record I was standing for the x-rays and I was not standing, I couldn't stand. That sounds like improper coding to me.
Back to the amazing ARC Ortho doc, he not only explained the injury much better, he actually showed me the x-rays and where the muscle was torn from the bone (yes it could be surgically fixed, but Dr. Smith said there was nothing he could do, BS!) Anyhow yes it will heal on it's own and since using my hamstring is not in my profession (not an athlete) I chose not to have surgery. The amazing doc did tests for range of motion, points of pain and explained thoroughly to me why it hurt in the places it did. Dr. Smith, never touched me nor did he even show me my xrays! WTH?
I am SO glad I got a 2nd opinion and although I've been to many great Tx Ortho docs at the Quarry Lake location, I'll never, ever go back to the Round Rock office or Dr. Smith again! Not only did he and his office lie to me, they have no bedside manner or true care for...
Read moreI am so happy to have found Dr. Walker at Texas Orthopedics. I've been dealing with a fractured shoulder for a couple of months. This is after having a repair, and two weeks later having to have a shoulder replacement, in 2021. I have seen 2 other surgeons and had appointments made with 2 others. The last surgeon I actually SAW told me that my issue was very complicated, and he didn't really want to attempt to fix the problem. The 2 appointments I had were cancelled by the docs. The first said he didn't see patients that already had replacements, and the second said for me to go back to the original surgeon. Too bad, he moved to North Carolina. I had a genuine meltdown, and the poor appointment person at Texas Orthopedics spent some time hunting down a doctor that WOULD SEE ME. I am so glad that the other doctors didn't want to take my case. Dr.Walker came in, immediately told me what he was concerned with, and said he would take me on as his patient. I couldn't be more impressed with his kindness, compassion, communication skills, and sense of humor! I am a retired RN (next year will be 50 years since I graduated!) I mostly took care of babies, so am kind of ignorant about orthopedic stuff, but did refer to Dr. Google, and EVERYTHING Dr. Walker described about what he felt may be the problem was exactly as described in "Dr. Google". ( I am not normally a fan. Too much misinformation! New parents, YOUR BABY REALLY DOES NEED VITAMIN K! ) It is complicated, but like I told him, "I may be old, but I do have a life." I want my life back. After dealing with this issue for over 2 years, I am looking forward to actually being able to enjoy the things that us geezers SHOULD enjoy. ( travel, activities such as swimming in my pool, bowling etc). This has been the worst year of our lives. We lost our daughter April 1. The physical pain I've been dealing with has done nothing but add to the emotional pain we've been dealing with. I am excited to actually see a light at the end of the tunnel. Every person I've seen at this office has been nothing but positive. THANK YOU DR WALKER! You have made a GOOD difference in my life. I feel like I have my orthopedic needs met...
Read moreMy boyfriend (28) and I went here as he has been having severe problems with his left side of his body, specifically something feeling out of place with his shoulder. We went and scheduled with Onan, who we never got to meet in the first place. My boyfriend told his assistant all our issues, primarily with it feeling out of place, pinching and causing left numbness on the side of his body, and panic attacks. They immediately took him in for X-rays, and we overheard the doctor through the door claiming it would be something with his neck. Thirty minutes later, another nurse comes in and tells us about the great news that his neck is okay, of which we said was not the area of concern, and proceeded to explain it was his shoulder. She continues to explain a bunch of stuff about the body and referred us to a neurologist (who we have not yet seen) and then schedules us an MRI for next week. From there, they again do an MRI on his neck, and he gets a call from them saying “great news! Your neck looks normal, and you don’t need to come in for a follow up!” To of which we reiterate again that nobody is listening to us about his problems which are continuing to get worse and the lack of care and attention to his problem. They tell us they will connect us with a doctor who can help focus on the issues we have reiterated and will call us back. Several hours later we call them and they end up being closed, and we are still without answers. The lack of communication, understanding and attention is infuriating as we have been spending our own money and time with them, having faith they will resolve this serious issue. We are now going to the Nuerologist on Wednesday and seeking a different Orthopedic who is attentive and active in our situation, as this was a very disappointing situation that has stretched out the time of which we could have been working towards a resolution and helping my boyfriend live a normal day...
