Taco Box — Restaurant in Aventura

After passing by a few times we decided to give it a shot, nice vibe and the server was hospitable, the issue is the food. I am a huge fan of Mexican traditional, Infusion or regional cuisine and as I have experienced most of the taquerias or restaurants with the same concept such as Santo, Cantina LaVeinte, Taquiza, Pilos, I read that lot's of reviews mentioned the pricing and they're right if you want to charge like the others specifically having Bodega around the corner you must be consistent with your final product, we had the queso fundido with chorizo and it was room temperature, chorizo didn't have that mild expected flavor on the 1st bite. I ordered 5 different tacos 2per order Governador the shrimp was below fishing bait size with room temperature components including tortilla 3pieces of bait size shrimp don't do justice to the dish at all. Octopus it was flavorless, room temperature. Pastor was lacking the sweet and tangy flavor again room temperature. Surf & Turf was the better of all temperature and flavor. Carne asada was chewy and again temperature was below any of the others. By experience I think they waited for the whole order or didn't have a runner and is the biggest issue as I read other reviews. I believe they can fix the temperature issues if they start sending food as is ready to be consistent, personally I would go back for a drink as I am local and hopefully they can fix the kitchen issues. Food is good. Place is very nice looking. Music can be a little too loud. My experience with one waiter was not great. Noticed that he was very slow and layed back. When it came time to pay the check he didn't give me a receipt, instead he just showed me the cc scanner with options to add 7%, 5% or 3% tip. I asked why so low? since I had never seen that before (and it was my first time at Taco Box), and he said "it is if you would like to add to my already included 18% tip". That happened on my first visit there. The next time I went I was served by a wonderful young lady named Constancia. At the end of that meal she brought us the bill (paper) and when we were ready to pay the scanner showed that I could decide how much tip to add. No tip was automatically added to our bill, unlike the first time I was there. Hmmmmm!!!! Recently went again and this time got the first waiter. He did the same thing. This time I asked to see my bill. So, seems this waiter takes his time serving cause he knows he is going to get the tip anyway. He basically doesn't show you a paper receipt just totals the check for you and shows you the total which includes his tip, nothing itemized (unless you ask, of course). I am sure some people who don't realize what he does may even add that extra tip (on top of the tip he has already added for himself). I don't like slick and dishonesty. I was really excited to go to this restaurant with my friends for Taco Tuesday.

We arrived and the atmosphere was amazing. This place is decorated amazingly and has a ton of photo-op areas for you to take pics. But that should have been my sign that the food quality wasn’t going to be that good.

We sat down and our waiter didn’t really seem to want to serve us or was in another place because he was very timid to interact and take our order. We ordered the queso and the guac along with the all you can eat tacos and I got a margarita. The guac tasted store bought or that it was overly seasoned with lime. The queso was extremely overcooked. I could barely get my chip in it to dig out some of the cheese.

When the tacos came out, it seemed as if the tacos were pre-made and just thrown in a heater to be served when ordered instead of cooked upon order. This caused the tacos to be really greasy and soggy. Also, the margarita wasn’t even that great. It tasted really watered down like it came from a pitcher that’s been sitting behind the bar.

The experience didn’t make me want to even try to come back for the other offers they have. I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking to enjoy some tacos but if you want an insta worth place to take photos and be in a cool atmosphere, you’ve...
