Let's start with the positive. I've been a summer resident in Avon Lake for a little over a year now and Marco's pizza is a local business that I tried when I occasionally have a craving for pizza. The four three experiences were pretty good. The pizza was ready for pickup when I arrived, it was hot, there was a reasonable density of toppings and it was reasonably priced for what the product was supposed to be. All good!
When I arrived this year and wanted a quick and easy family feed for 4 adults and 2 toddlers, Marco's seems like the answer so I look online to look at their menu and since menu writing while useful can convey only so much information so I always look closely at and rely on the published photos of what the item is. Whatever the choice of topping(s), the pizzas were covered with that (those) topping(s) from the center to the edge of the crust for uniformly scrumptious dining over the entire area of the pizza. I'm salivating as I order online, pick them up and quickly get home to feed my hungry family.
Well, surprise, surprise, surprise! The outer 3 inches all around the crust has no toppings on both the large pizzas I purchased. Without making this a math lesson, a 3 inch perimeter inside the crust without any topping is about one-third of the entire area of the pizza. Okay, as you can guess, I am not a happy camper. A picture is worth a lot more than a thousand words when it come to online food offerings.
Marco's gets a grade of F on this one and makes me hesitant to return right away. Inconsistency in product is not what a consumer wants. On a positive note, there are several other pizzerias close enough for convenient take out and I plan on trying each of them to see if they should replace Marco's as my go to place for a good pie. I apologize for the lengthy review. Thanks...
Read moreAfter having issues with Romeo's pizza in Avon Lake I decided to go back to the AL Marcos after 8 years. First time in April it was a really good supreme pizza along with my wife's GF Cauliflower crust pizza. And another order in June it was ok as well
Tonight kinda blah, my XL pizza was ordered with parmesan cheese, the one I got was yellow like cheddar cheese (it looked pretty good see pic) but had a weird taste. Also there is barely any pizza sauce on it like Romeo's where you can taste the sauce. My wife's cauliflower crust was just ok and they didn't include the garlic sauce as requested. (A big problem with these pizza places when you ask for or pay extra for one) I think we'll stick with Big M pizza which has been perfect pizza everytime and has an amazing sauce better...
Read moreWe ordered online, when it said pizza ready on the tracking we head immediately and was told the pizza is not ready yet. From the store where we picked up the pizza to our hotel was only about 7-10mins, but as soon as we tried/eat the pizza it doesn't feel hot anymore(like it's been sitting for so long). Compared to all the other pizzas we tried before, the appearance of this one was just okay (not so appetizing). But the white sauce was pretty good. Total disappointment when i was chewing my pizza felt something hard in my mouth and when i checked what was it, it was a hard plastic thing that i dunno what. They really should pay attention on how they handled their food preparation coz this is not acceptable(i'm just thankful that it was not eaten by...
