Had a FANTASTIC meal here tonight! Seriously, the food was amazing. We decided to try three appetizers and then shared an entree. We had Thai chicken wings (salt and pepper) which were HUGE and SUPER crispy. Then, based on recommendations, we tried the Apsara beef skewers which were not like anything I'd had before and were so good. They were marinated in a lot of lemongrass and something sweet and the meat was tender and delicious. We also had the chive dumplings, pan fried, per the waiter's recommendation, and these were truly not like anything I've ever had before. They were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside and I will order them every time I go to this restaurant. For the entree we shared a pad thai. We were given a choice of mild, medium, or hot and we went with medium. He did warn us that their scale is more traditional, with hot being something closer to Thai hot, so the medium was pretty hot. A little hotter than I would probably order it again. I think next time I'll ask for something just slightly above mild. Overall, it was an excellent pad thai, with all the meat super juicy and all the noodles coated with a sauce (I hate a dry pad thai!). We took a lot of leftovers home. All the appetizers and the entree were really big. All I got a photo of was the entree because we'd already semi-devoured all of the appetizers before I...
Read moreI came here for the first time today and was extremely disappointed. I ordered fried rice that was extra Thai hot. I’ve eaten spicy food since I was a kid and I’m in my thirties now so I know exactly what I can and I can’t handle.
Anyways I tried ordering my fried rice extra Thai hot but the server kept telling me that I should get medium and I told him that I wanted extra Thai hot, and he kept saying that their restaurants version of medium is another place’s version of Thai hot, but I insisted that I wanted Thai hot and he said okay.
When I got to the restaurant, he told me the kitchen made my food medium spice because he couldn’t understand me over the phone. I was annoyed that they changed my order and asked him that if it wasn’t spicy enough then could I return it and he said no. Well I paid, took the food and when I opened the box I knew it wasn’t spicy enough, and lo and behold, it was medium spice and even with the extra chilis they gave me, it still wasn’t spicy.
I don’t think I’ll be back because I felt extremely disrespected and gaslighted. If a customer orders something, please make it as they ordered and don’t assume that you know better than...
Read moreI'm happy there's finally a proper Khmer restaurant for me to get my fix on even though it's in the West Valley and I'm in Chandler. I'll definitely make the drive since I've enjoyed what I have ordered...
I'll always order Kuy Teav Phnom Penh over Pho when it's available and this kuy teav is to my liking, no liver! This would be the reason I'll return frequently. Broth was superb! Wish I've added more fried garlic though... next time I suppose.
I did order a Seafood Me Ka Tang and the beef sticks to go for later, but that came sooner than I thought. I ate them once I got home because I was craving them while enjoying the scent on the drive home! I'm so weak...
The me ka tang was savory and hit everything I love about me ka tang and the beef sticks were perfect. I could honestly eat 100 beef sticks in my younger years.
I really hope nothing but the best and hope they open an East Valley location, if not, I'll still make the drive to this location. They were a pleasant to deal with too. She even mentioned that she can even cook some of my favorite Khmer food that's off menu! Don't tease me like that! I do look forward to it though.......
