Colados Coffee & Crepes (Avondale) — Restaurant in Avondale

We have been customers of the Avondale location two years after they opened that location! Well the past few years we have notice the change in the Crepes we buy which usually it's the Tropical. Well the past few years the crepe barely has cream cheese or the toppings, which are the nuts, coconut flakes, pineapple chunks and lechera drizzle with some whipcream!! Well it's always something, sometimes the crepe is over cooked that it's very dark and very dry. We never say anything, but the it all depends on the cook and who finish preparing them. Well we had stop going for about 5-6 months as we have been so disappointed as we were use to getting good crepes like the ones in there Instagram videos that are well made and that's how we would get them all the time! I know they have grown into other locations, but we notice some change in the past two years and well today we went back and this time I asked if they could please put the proper amount of Lechera as the last time we came which was about 5-6 months we were disappointed with the lack of lechera on them and that helps make them less dry and gives it flavor!! I wasn't asking for extra just the normal amount like the use to put or the videos on there Instagram show!! This was a order to go, well upon arrival we notice that the crepes had none to drips of lechera and I called the store and the lady that answer and heard my complaint/ disappointment said you didn't pay for extra, which I didn't ask for extra then I ask to speak to a manager that lacked skills to handled a concern and it seemed like she didn't want to hear the disappointment of the customer on a product they paid for and she wanted to offer a gift card, but we are not in it for the refund and gift card, we just want better service and better product!! We won't be back and the sad thing is that I reached out through Instagram in a private message and it's been 10+ hours and no one has reached out!! They just lost a customer for life and I know they can care less as that's what happens when they...

Short version: great selection, wonderfully decorated, friendly staff, good service

Longer version: only two semi-bad things I was not pleased about. 1) their large display menus do not have the descriptions/ingredients listed, so you have to go up to the counter to view their more descriptive menus - and if someone is standing behind you that knows already what they want, your indecision on what to order and taking up counter space looking at the menu could be an irritant; and 2) they share their lot with a lot of other strip mall occupants to the traffic and parking/exiting could be nightmarish. I'm surprised we didn't witness a few car collisions, it was that chaotic.

Everything else about Colados was good though. As you can imagine, the interior was decorated with large French artwork, beautifully displayed. It was a very pristine place to eat, and larger than it looks from the outside. The staff we interacted was all friendly and bubbly. The drinks were delivered to our table quickly, the food within a few minutes of the drinks. My sister devoured her balsamic crepe, while I was only able to eat a third of my BLT crepe (they were large, definitely) but I also wanted to finish the cookie butter crepe as I did not think that one would be as good as a leftover meal the next day. :-) I almost enjoyed the cookie butter more than the BLT.

I love crepes and have tried numerous crepe restaurants. I will say Colados crepes were not as light/airy as some of the other places I tried, but despite that, they have a wonderful selection to choose from, and if I am ever in the area again, I would stop by to try other items...

So glad we got to try this place! We came yesterday but it was extremely packed so we decided to skip it. Came back this morning and there was a lot less people but were told by a pretty girl in a red shirt, I’m assuming she was the manager, that there was about a 25 minute wait for the food. We got a kids meal for my little one with a chocolate milk and ice cream. She was so happy with her meal. She stated that this is now her favorite breakfast spot and how she likes that the kids meal aren’t too big for her to finish. She also noted that the staff was very friendly, everyone had a mask and gloves on, she liked the pictures and setup and how clean Colados is. I got the peach crepe, I was a little afraid that it might leave me feeling too full or give me that “ugh” feeling due to it being too sweet but Colados got it just right! It is definitely sweet but not so much that you feel horrible after eating it. It’s light but filling. My honey got the Chorizo crepe and was very impressed. He said he never cares to have regular egg and chorizo again since he is always left feeling too full after but this crepe hit the spot! It was tasty, the stuff drizzled on top was delicious, only thing he’d do different is ask for extra cilantro next time. Cannot wait to come back.
