Joes Tacos — Restaurant in Avondale

Just want to start by saying I don't ever make reviews, even if I have a bad experience. It's usually just a whatever feeling. But my experience tonight was bad enough I had to make a review. The food is good as always. The staff not so much. When I got to the counter to order the cashier was still talking/flirting with someone she knew and asked me to repeat myself because she wasn't paying attention. I ordered 1 pastor and 1 asada casadilla and 1 chicken taco at 7:45 (this is important for later). Paid and the receipt was correct. People come and go and still don't hear our number called. 8:13 comes and I ask about my order. I'm told that we already recieved it. The workers huddle together and then im informed that my order was taken by someone else and that they will remake it.(inconvenient, but no biggie. Things happen). Someone comes up to me and asked if I would want 2 asada casadills instead of what I ordered and paid for. (I decline). 8:25 comes and both casadillas come so I ask about the taco. I was told that they are still making it. So we wait. 8:35 comes and I again go up and ask about the taco which is for my 7 year old who is impatiently waiting. The workers huddle again and I can hear them saying that they already gave it to me. One of the ladies and a around 10 year old boy for some reason preparing my my missing taco. Since it's been almost an hour since ordering I ask for it to go. I ended up giving my kid part of my food while we were waiting so no starving kids in this story. I will say again. the food is good. Joe's Taco is usually consistently great with their food and customer service, but today (Nov. 7, 2024 at 1 pm) was an off day for the employees. I waited in line for about 8 mins (only customer in line) before the cashier took my order. I ordered 4 original cabeza corn tacos with everything on it, 1 original flour cabeza taco with everything, and 1 cabeza burritos and requested the burrito be cut in half. I took my order to go. When I opened my food container, part of the order was wrong. I received 4 corn tacos with carne asada (should've been cabeza) with no avocado sauce on 3 of them (why the employee making tacos stingy with the avocado sauce?!?) and the burrito wasn't cut in half. I did notice the female cashier was chatting it up with the male cook and the male cook would stop cooking/working just to talk to the female cashier, which explains why the orders were coming out slow. Tacos were some of the best that I’ve had here in AZ. The red chicken seasonal tamale was complete fire. It was amazing. The quesadillas were okay as well. I did not care for the Horchata whatsoever. However, it was my first time tasting it, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It tasted of just milk & cinnamon, so it wasn’t a drink I wanted to have with my tacos. None of the family enjoyed it, so we just threw it away. The service was okay. The cashier shorted me .75 cents. Which is not a big deal and I didn’t mention it to her. She kept looking at her drawer and my receipt after she rang me up and I’m assuming noticed that she didn’t have change and handed me back the cash and just walked off to get my drink lol.
