Trapper's Sushi - Avondale — Restaurant in Avondale

My son wanted me to try this place, so we went.. service was great, our server was very tentative and kept checking on us. Now for the issues, food is ok, but not good enough to warrant the high cost, salmon had a real sea taste and was hard, rolls were small and honestly not impressed by them or the quality. Asked for fresh wasabi (some places have it as premium wasabi) the stuff they gave us is scooped from a giant container and is like play-doh, seaweed salad at first appeared to be a good amount until I realized that the whole bottom of the bowl was chopped cabbage (disappointed) , for the dessert, picked the fried ice cream and again nice presentation but the amount was small since they give 2 scoops of ice cream and then after frying them on tempura and splitting in half the ice cream melted and it was just a mess... That is what happens when you try new places 🤷‍♂️ you win some and loose some. Total bill came out to over $80 after tip, definitely going to my favorite place and spend less for better sushi. Update I was contacted by the management, it was a cordial phone call, the manager apologized and offered a discount if I would try them again. I think that I will try in a few months after they settle, hopefully by then the issues are resolved. Update 1/30/22 A few friends wanted to have sushi, we were in the area, told them about our previous experience, but gave another try since it's been a while and figure they would fix the issues... Sadly mistaken. Server took a long time, the messed our drinks at first, the sake bomber comes with a small half glass of beer and 1 shot of sake. Didn't even felt anything drinking the water down sake. Then the rolls came, all together even tho we had ordered separately even after we asked. First off let me shout my boy stevo the man. Not only does he deliver consistently amazing sushi everytime, but it comes with a show. My man got personality. My man got tricks. Ya boi serves it up and lays it down. 5/5

Now on to my boy devon. Isnt he just charming. The instant walking his charizzma touches my heart. I walked and instantly greets with that million dollar smile. Not only is devon handsome but man hes quick. make sure to also look out for my boy devin.

giving three stars because the sushi chef with the glasses was AMAZING. Very informative and actually seemed to like to be there his customer service was great, the waitress on the other hand, couldnt tell if she was sarcastic or had that dumb “valley girl” accent. But she didnt greet us till after 10 minutes of us sitting there, she had one other table. forgot my boyfriends beer and he didnt get it till about five minutes before we were wrapping up, also i figured since she was taking a while to get to us the entire time i figured i’d collect the check from her when she was near so we didnt have to wait when we were actually ready to go. So we had just recieved our last round of all you can eat rolls when i asked for the check and (idk if its just how she talks or if she was being snarky) she says “just so you know we have a no wasting policy” which irritated me cause we JUST got our last rolls so dont assume we are leaving just cause i ask for the check early so we can actually leave when we want. That was annoying. if she had been more attentive to us she would have known that. It just rubbed me the wrong way, and to charge him for the beer when he got it during the last roll was insane. We left a tip for her and a bigger one for the chef cause he was amazing. GIVE HIM A RAISE! Also, he’s the only one who bothered to get to know us and our names like the “motto” is. If you dont like your job, dont work there. Its that simple. We might come back, but if we do i’ll be loud and proud about not sitting us in...
