I would suggest going to Dave and Busters if you are debating between the two. Read below for more info!
So we took our children to Main Event on 12/21/2022, for my daughters 12th birthday. Any parent of a child with a December birthday knows how tough it is for them due to the Holidays and everyone pairing up their birthdays with Christmas or Chanukah.
Firstly the facility is very clean, large, and plenty of things to do. I would give it a good review on this. The pricing is quite expensive, especially if you have a larger family like I do. I spent over $100.00 just to walk in the door, that's before food and gaming. The issues we ran into were the serving staff. Our server was so rude, argumentative, and didn't understand a simple request. Not only did he mess up on 3 of our orders the first time, he also just couldn't understand the difference between something as simple as a plain hamburger vs a plain cheeseburger (Picky eaters I know). And when we tried to nicely explain the difference to him, he continued to argue with us about it.
I'm not the type to believe the customer is always right, but when they are just trying to explain things so you have a better understanding of what the customer wants, and you want to antagonize people its an issue. Because they screwed up our food so much, and the time to fix it took so long, it affected how we planned to continue to spend our night (remember the 100.00+ to walk in the door). So instead of enjoying the various things there was to do, we waited, and waited, and waited some more for food, all for it to come back wrong again. I never ended up eating. Meanwhile we were just trying to show my daughter a good time for her birthday which is always screwed every year due to the holidays.
Unfortunately, what is done is done. Yes it's probably a great time there, but the staff made this the most miserable experience, next to my car buying experiences out here. Typically a father will tell his kids he is mad when things are messed up.
I am just disappointed in Main Event, and will likely not visit again because of this fiasco. Remember it was not just about the experience that was ruined but my daughters special night was...
Read moreWe visited Main Event yesterday to celebrate our son's 7th birthday, and I have to start by saying the experience was a really mixed.
The Positives Were Truly Positive: First, the good stuff, because it's important. The arcade, laser tag, and bowling facilities are fantastic. Our son had an absolute blast, which was our main goal. More importantly, every single staff member we encountered was wonderful. Our waitress, in particular, was so kind and went above and beyond to make my son feel special on his birthday, even bringing him a special dessert presentation. The honey sriracha boneless wings were also quite tasty.
The Negatives Were Severe: Unfortunately, the food and drink quality was deeply concerning and has left us feeling unwell. We ordered a variety of items, and several were problematic:
· The Sliders: The meat had a very off-putting texture and an unusual taste that made us think it might have been old. We both ended up feeling very ill a few hours later, I immediately became sick and we had to leave. · The Cheesy Bread: It had the distinct, dry, and frost-bitten taste of being freezer-burned. · The Ice Cream: My son's ice cream had a strange aftertaste that was not normal. He didn't want to finish it, and it reinforced our concern about product freshness. · The Frozen Margaritas: I had two frozen margaritas. The liquor used had a strong, metallic aftertaste that is still lingering the morning after.
I rarely get sick from food, but I am still feeling queasy this morning, which confirms my suspicions about the quality of what we consumed.
Conclusion: It truly pains me to leave this rating because the staff and activities are top-notch. However, serving food that makes customers sick, specifically me and my husband, is a serious issue that overshadows everything else. We really wanted to love this place, but until they make significant improvements to their kitchen's food safety and quality control, we cannot in good conscience recommend eating here. We might return for the games alone, but we will absolutely be...
Read moreMain event is a fun place to go with the family, but you pay a high price to do it. This location has bowling, pool, laser tag, an arcade, and gravity ropes. It seems like a lot at first but it runs out fast. The arcade is also insanely high prices, so you'll spend a fortune if you want to play for very long outside of an unlimited pass. Even so you'll definitely have fun if you come here.
For bowling, everything went well, but it's quite frustrating you can't expand your time when you haven't finished a game. And when we were there, there was no line, they just wouldn't let it carry over so we lost our scores in the 9th frame. In later sessions we learned to just play one game and walk away.
The laser tag was probably their best event. The playing field is pretty decent. It could be bigger but it works.
The pool tables are nice. Easy to just get a rack of balls and play a game for an hour.
The arcade is stupid expensive. Even in these days of super high prices, this facility is really expensive. The price is higher than almost all competitors. They also have a very annoying price increase in the afternoon, so all the games go up in cost. We were playing the big games and waiting to do arcade later in the day and we lost out on a huge amount of play time because we didn't know about this pricing scam.
The gravity ropes were fun but the customer service was horrible. The workers didn't even show up until five o'clock and it took them thirty minutes to even get started even though we were told they would be ready at four. The attitudes of the employees were awful.
The shining light of our visit was the food and drink, both in food quality and service. Everything we ate was really good. The drinks, including some custom ones, were done very well.
Advice for a visit is go and either just do events on an all pass, or just do arcade on all pass. You'll have a lot more fun breaking it up that way and you'll save a huge amount of money. And if you're hungry, it's a great place for some...
