Rakuten Ramen — Restaurant in Azusa

I had pretty high hopes for this ramen shop, especially being that there offer vegetarian/vegan options but they shot those hopes down right away. It took about 10 minutes after being sat down to get the hostess attention, in that time she went and took other people's orders. When we went to order and asked for the vegetarian options she told us they ran out. How can you run out of both vegetarian options?? But overall the atmosphere is nothing to write about, it just looks like a decorated version of Hana Kitchen (the shop that used to be there) so it looks like it was quickly put together. The layout is weird, the hostess stand is in a really awkward position where all the way to the left of the shop, so if you go through the side door the hostess' back is facing you and you have to walk around to get to it. Not sure if they changed the entrance to the bathroom (doubtful), but if they're still in the old location than the entrance is located outside. The seating is communal and there's not that many seats, there are high chairs available and it is wheelchair accessible, as well as seating. Overall, this play is a big downer and it's not a place that you MUST go to, trust me there's better ramen shops with a nicer atmosphere and staff.I'll change my rating IF I ever find the time to go back, hopefully the service is better and they're...

My husband and i were tired and hungry. i am gluten intolerant therefore ,i have to be careful what i order. (drive thru) the gentlemen who was taking the order was not familiar with this and asked the manager to complete the order taking. When we arrived home (1/2 hour drive), we found the first part of our order was not in the bag. this was upsetting. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. The manager called me back and apologized and immediately offered to bring us the missing items. after hanging up I looked for the receipt and saw, we were only charged for what we did receive. I tried calling the manager back, the phone was busy and before I could reach them, he was at my door delivering the items plus drinks. I offered to pay and he would not take the money. yes, there was a mistake in taking the order (due to multiple people) but, this is a man with integrity. he did not lose a customer but he definitely made one. and YES, by the way; the food was excellent!! thank you this world needs more honorable people as yourself!! I highly recommend this...

Rewriting my review because the owner decided to be combative with my previous one. I used to come here because it was cheap and DECENT. Nothing to brag about, but at least it was affordable. Now? Smaller portions and an increase in price? I eat ramen regularly and can tell the difference between a premium bowl and one that is simply trying to taste premium. Inflation or not, the math doesn’t add up here. On top of that the physical space has its own issues, the interior feels thrown together, old paper menus, awkward seating layout. The communal seating might be “trendy” if it weren’t so cramped. All in all, this isn’t a MUST visit ramen spot. If you want to spend high end prices on a not so high end bowl that’s your choice, just be aware you might leave wishing you’d gone somewhere with higher quality broth, more comfortable seating, and maybe a better health rating.
