Was at restaurant with a scheduled reserved party of 14 on a weeknight. The food and drink selection was excellent ( 5 star ). However; the server assigned to table was worse than awful. Had to repeatedly ask for basic things...... silverware, asked 3 times for a glass to pour my drink in , napkins, it was difficult to get the basics to even enjoy the meal. Plus server seemed to have attitude when asked for basics .... examples - when it was brought to her attention that one diner had not received a meal yet ( 10-15 minutes after other meals brought to table ) she acted as if we were bothering her and actually said " I sure got screwed tonight " . Also when another diner questioned something ,her comment back was " I guess we won't be seeing you in here again." .... at least 7-8 separate local families are sitting at her table, hmmmm ... does the owner reallllyyy not want us to dine here again ? The other problem was an 18 % gratuity had been added automatically onto each bill ( 7 separate bills) at table, this wasn't told to anyone , so some diners ended up upset when they found out later they had " double tipped".... Meal prices are at the higher range for this type of restaurant ( but food is excellent) . Great drink menu but no prices on it ... Drink prices were extremely high ... Was charged $12.00 for a shot of whiskey and beer prices are the...
Read moreI would have given this restaurant five stars because the food is genuinely delicious, creative, and the atmosphere is great especially in a town that is seemingly so small. It says on the menu to ask about gluten-free options in our server, even if one of us that she is gluten-free herself. However, your gluten-free options are pretty much limited to rice, vegetables and plain meat. Those aren’t gluten free options, those are just gluten free obvious. I’d go to a restaurant and expect lettuce to be gluten free, but having gluten free options at a restaurant is things beyond the expected. When you are catering to children that takes away a majority of their options when they need to be gluten-free, it’s so easy to have a dedicated fryer that you don’t put wheat products into. Expanding the gluten-free options in a small town like this would make it so much more accessible for people with celiac disease or other food allergies. The food is fantastic, so if you don’t have a food allergy definitely give this place a try as it seems like a real gem in a small town, but saying to ask about gluten-free options on the menu seems a bit disingenuous when they’re...
Read moreRachel’s is a beautiful restaurant in quaint bad axe. The drinks were on point, the brussel sprouts were awesome, and the service was good.
However, this restaurant presents itself as a finer dining establishment and the prices reflect that. But, the food did not rise to the occasion. The owner’s daughter was proud to defend the “hand cut” calamari that looked like French fries and seemed offended when I told her calamari doesn’t come in blocks, she called a steak. If it doesn’t look like it can swim in the ocean something is wrong and the texture reflected that. We had the white fish, salmon, and chicken and all of the protein was overcooked and under seasoned. The rice was not cooked that day. The creamy salmon soup was under seasoned, vegetables slightly undercooked, and the sauce was partially broken.
The food is presented nicely, but does not live up to the prices being charged. At this price range your food needs to be on point and you can’t serve me stuff out of a bag and try to defend it as fresh.
This place has a ton of potential. Hopefully the owners are listening. Until then, I...
