I've been going to this place since it opened. It's a place I go to when I'm too lazy to drive across town to get the good stuff. It's reminiscent of the San Diego taco shops. However, it's not even close in quality. The Alfonso burrito comes in choice of meat, pico de gallo and guacamole. It doesn't pack the meat like the San Diego taco shops. Their self-named burrito is thinly made. The carne asada is a bit grainy like it marinates for longer than it should making the protein a bit too denatured - it has a funny texture. In addition, it lacks the grill flavor you'd expect. The rolled tacos do somewhat remind of the taco shops as well as the red salsa. They come topped with guacamole and lots of finely shredded cheese. The carnitas are descent and would recommend that meat over the others. The service is friendly and personable. A lot of regulars come to the store and it always surprises me when the staff know their names and information about their families. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. If you use the drive-in, expect a 6-8 car deep line and expect to wait 20-30 minutes until you finally receive your food. I would never take someone here. It's only a place I go to when I'll settle for mediocre out of...
Read morewe've had Alfonso's twice. once back in 2016 and today (10/01/20). Both time I ordered the same thing (asada burrito) and other family members ordered tacos. the first time back in 2016 the burrito was such a disaster that I vowed to not ever go back to this place to say the least. I am court ordered to not discuss more of this since the case is still open. but now that we have literally moved next door to this joint, I figured I give it another chance. I being the carnivore that I am, ordered a burrito with EXTRA MEAT, no beans, no rice, extra guacamole and pico de gallo and what I got back was nothing less than a hate crime. I am at the point that if their is ever a purge... Alfonso is at the top of my list. this place sucks and thats...
Read moreIT WILL FILL YOU UP. Yet for the sacrifice of flavor. The food is mediocre. I ordered a “Deluxe” burrito complete with potato, egg, sour cream, avocado, and pico de gallo. Apparently lettuce was inside. I ordered EASY beans. The burrito was filled with beans… There wasn’t much egg and other ingredients as far as I could taste. Mostly beans and the lettuce was chopped. The bacon plate came with what I estimate as possibly four pieces of bacon, crumbled. The photos represent the midway point of our meal. The coffee was warm, not hot. I did ask for salsa and they forgot to include it in the order. I did not try any of the other food yet am not eager to return based on this one meal. Perhaps their other food...
