Birrieria Guadalajara — Restaurant in Bakersfield

On my way to Vegas from north Cali, I found this place on Google with great reviews and I was eager to try it. The place was clean and it had friendly service. I went to this place because of the 4.3 star reviews, sadly the 4.3 star is unbeknownst to me as how they got this rating. I ordered the birria en caldo dish for $15.85. I have a mixed reviews on the meat because some of it was tender and some was tough, as for the broth it was somewhat flavorful, but it felt it should have been simmered longer and the meat also cooked additional time and allow the ingredients to come together in a more flavorful way. It was served warm NOT hot enough to enjoy the birria the way it should be, and in a small plate/bowl which wasn't deep enough to hold the broth and the meat. This caused the server to have trouble placing it on the table because the broth spilled onto the table losing some of the broth from the plate/bowl and the server didn't offer to replace the broth. I am only giving this restaurant one star because the food is actually good. However, expect for them to charge you 20%, plus another 3% to use your debit card. The waiter was so rude and gives you so much attitude. It’s so sad how you go out to eat with your family and they ruin your entire meal. She rolled her eyes every time we had a question about the menu. If you go with 6 adults and 2 children, they don’t care, and will still charge 20%. They charged our card extra because we didn’t pay cash. So I got another $7 added to my tab. If I would have been told, I would have paid cash. It was my first time trying this place. Truly one of the worst foods I have ever had. The birria tatemada had a very pungent taste did not seem like it was fresh at all. The meat tasted like if it was old and honestly didn't even taste like chivo i'm not sure what it was. It was super dry and tasted rancid. The menudo was served cold. It had no flavor at all, after a few bites I could not bring myself to continue eating any of the food. It made me feel sick. I spent the next day throwing up. I would never recommend this place.
