My friend and I decided to give Bonnie's Best Cafe a try. It is conveniently located near downtown Bakersfield. When we first walked in, it was just past 10:00 There were no other customers but the 2 ladies behind the counter were busy. I was a bit taken aback when one of the ladies told us to order here and pick up over there. She didn't greet us nor did she smile, she just handed us a to go menu. We both ordered a half sandwich and a cup of coffee. We had to serve ourselves coffee in a to go cup from a single carafe. There wasn't a choice of coffee blends. There is only a hand full of single serve creamers and sugar packets. The coffee was awful, too much of a nutty flavor. I couldn't finish my sandwich and decided to take it home. I walked up to the counter and before I could utter one word a different lady handed me a small plastic container without saying a word. Now, for the better part of this review. I ordered a roast beef sandwich (can't remember the name), the meat was delicious, with the right amount of mustard on a tender French roll. My friend ordered a (Tom Cruise), I can't remember what it was but she loved it. The table and chairs are vintage 1960/70's They are all different and brought back memories of a long ago childhood. Bottom line; I will only order online from this cafe. Oh, and one thing I dislike from any business is being asked for a tip before trying any of the food. The cafe didn't earn the...
Read moreLet me paint you guys a picture. My dad is in surgery right now while I'm waiting to get the call to go get him. I'm driving around. Hungry but for a different plate than my usual and rowdy places. Drove by, never ever heard of this place before. Decided to stop and check it out. I walked in, greeted kindly, and asked what's the deal here, do I sit and get my order taken or order and sit. Total noob I know 😅 asked for recommendations and got two, The Tom cruise and Brummer. Ordered the Brummer and sat on a corner stool. Most relaxed while eating a simple yet tasty sandwich ever. I'd give em another try on a different sandwich or get familiar with their menu b4...

They even have daily special’s making it a special treat to look forward to your weekly favorite. During the week I like the Katie Holmes and on Fridays the Richard Pryor, a special grilled cheese served with tomato soup. I also appreciate that they carry several Zero sodas which isn’t yet widely available everywhere. The service is friendly and fast. Give this...
