I usually like don perico. But tonight was a completely experience. So...we sat down and were immediately brought chips and salsa and menus. So far so good. About 15 minutes later were asked if we were ready to order. We did...and then had to ask for drinks. Oops. But they brought drinks right after, so no big deal. So....we're eating chips and playing games with my six year old, who is getting antsy because it's taking a long time, when my wife spills her drink across the table. It pours across the table and off into my seat and on the floor. I get my son out without him getting soaked. The waitress brings a dish rag and leaves it on the table and walks off. So my wife is left struggling to wipe off a soaked table with a small dishrag. The rag is soaked and no longer drying the table. I start pushing ice cubes from the soda into the chip basket lined with paper. Of course that starts leaking too. I look around and there's a small stack of napkins on table behind us. I start drying the table with napkins. As we are drying the table...they show up with the food. They stand like bumps on a long for us so they can put the food on the table....then leave again. We sit down....and no silverware. Or napkins. And of course...now no drinks. We request silverware and they bring it. Then we eat our dinner. Might I add...I got the pleasure of eating my dinner with my feet in a pool of soda...because they never cleaned the floor. Just left it there. After eating, my wife used the restroom. The look on her face told me something was wrong. Sge told me the restroom was dirty, papers on the floor, and the stall doors would not lock. Also, the doors wouldn't stay shut and kept opening as she used the restroom. I told the manager about our experience. His remedy was to put up a wet floor sign where we had eaten until the floor was mopped up. We paid for our meal and left, and as of our time of leaving, the floor still hadnot been cleaned. I leave it to your imagination my opinion of Don Perico thanks to...
Read moreI went with arround 40 co-workers to have dinner. The service wasnt the greatest we only had one waiter. She busted her ass while the other ones were busy getting entretaned by some tipsy dancers. The 2 or 3 times they did help, was because she asked. That really bothered me. A friend who has a specific diet just ate the apetizers due to the waiter not bothering to go ask if therevcan be an ecception on the way the cook cooked. An example would be that she cant eat butter. She asked if they used butter and if they did what dishes didn't cause she couldnt eat it. Tge waiter said most of the food had butter. She could eat vegetable oil. But the lady said she didnt think they couldnt substitute. The food there is good but not for the prize. Two carne asada tacos with beans and rice on the side come out to a hefty prize of $23 bucks. No onion cilantro or salsa jut two plain double tortilla tacos with rice and beans. For tge prize they charge people there their rest rooms should be so.e what decent. Dirty as hell the paint is awfull the grout on the tile is so dirty the sink faucets dont match. Not that they should but like i said for what they charge, they should make it seem like the money is being well spent. Theres no waiters, they shy on the food, they need to better maintenence. So wheres the money going. Im pretty sure the CEO is driving a nice ass car tho. The food i got had good taste but not filling for the price. I hope they...
Read moreI remember coming here as a little girl and loving the parrots hanging from the ceiling. It was our family favorite Mexican restaurant. I continued to come when I was dating in high school and first got married.
But, unfortunately it has gone extremely downhill. I don't know where the pride of ownership has gone, but it's clear to me that quality isn't a priority with the owners of Don Perico.
On our last visit the service was terrible. We waiting for what seemed like hours to get our food and I had to visit the front desk to ask for our check.
Everyone's food at the table looked visibly old and greasy. The guac and pico de Gallo were discolored. The beef chimichanga looked like it was made with day old ground beef. Even the rice and refried beans looked old. My chicken fajitas were dry and unappealing. My husbands first margarita had a ton of salt resting at the bottom and the second one had a black thing floating in it.
You won't have this experience at Loma Linda (cheaper), La Costa Mariscos, or Mexicali (similar price)
I don't want to see them fail. But I wish these reviews would mean something to them. I really hope they reevaluate their service and quality and bring it back to the old days when they served fresh, delicious, quality Mexican food.
Until that happens we won't...
