Ichiban Sushi — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Don’t ever come to this restaurant I used to come to this restaurant at least twice a month and now the restaurant has really bad service. Every time I call to make a takeout food order they mess up in the order, last time I had order three rolls and one bento box and I only got two rolls and the bento box so I called the restaurant to let them know that we were missing one roll so they could do the roll and we could pick it up, the waitress answered the phone and she went and asked the chef and the chef was like “ I do remember doing three of them” but we only received two in the box so it kind of pissed me off because they didn’t wanna redo the roll or give me my money back so the lady said that we were gonna have a 20% off next purchase and she wrote my name down now. I haven’t ordered from them since then because of the bad service so I decided to give him one more chance and then again I ordered the aloha roll which is my favorite and every time I order it, it always comes with the fish and jalapeño and a drp of Sriracha sauce and good thing that when I pick them up, I checked the boxes right then and there and I noticed that two of our rolls were missing the jalapeños and the sauce so in front of the waitress, I said to her “they forgot the jalapeños” and her answer Was “it depends every chef does it different” and I was like what do you mean? The aloha roll already comes with the jalapeño and the drop of Sriracha sauce that’s how their menu states and then her answer didn’t make sense. I waited over 15 minutes for a freaking sliced jalapeño and on top of that I requested my 20% off from over 90 bucks order and there 20% off was -$3 buck off???? Tell me how is that 20% off I attach the receipt below so everybody can see and I also noticed the chef was touching the rolls with their bare hands, no gloves, and on top of that they take smoke breaks which it’s really unsanitary because they touch the rolls and they smoke every 15 minutes when they don’t have any other orders and I doubt that they’re cleaning their hands because every time they go back in, they go to their little bar area right away, and I never see them stopping to wash their hands. Don’t come here anymore. And whats worse on top of that their spicy mayo sauce when you purchase to-go is literally not even halfway of the cup filled, and they charge almost 2 bucks per cup. It’s not worth it. Stay away!!! Never coming back again!

Update: I forgot to check the bento box and they gave me a chicken teriyaki and I ordered a chicken/beef bento box 😡 they can’t never get...

Good service. Been there a few times at least, probably 4 or 5. Very friendly staff. Pretty good service. Sushi is good though quality suffers a little bit time to time. Nothing too bad but notable. Could use a little more variety of ingredients for sure lots of the same base ingredients in most rolls. Nothing creative or something I crave on the menu. They are not stingy with the fish though, and that counts for something. Lost a full star for having on more than one occasion LOUD music that had a lot of vulgarity/profanity in it and we are dining with our child. So it's awkward you want to ask them to change the music or turn it down but you feel that's overstepping or something. You don't really need to do that when there is plenty of music that does not have that in it and would please everyone. We are not uptight but it was pretty tasteless and interferes with your experience with your family. There's just no reason for it unless you don't want customers like us in there, who wouldn't care but our daughter is dining with us so we...

I've been going to Ichiban on Oswell for years and have had nothing but great experiences. But recently since Covid happened and the new management, things are drastically different. The prices for items on the menu are wayyy higher (I understand inflation hit everyone...). Tonight I ordered take out and when I got home I noticed that my side salad I ordered was only like 1/4 of the way full and was inside the small Styrofoam miso soup container. I looked at the receipt and they charged me $6 for the salad! I drove all the way back to the restaurant and asked what's up? They said they would add more salad to the small bowl to fill it up. ??? I turned it down and asked for a refund on the salad instead. Completely ridiculous to charge your customers that much for like 3 pieces of lettuce and sneak it in on a to-go order. Because of this and the management, I will not be ordering from here...
