Sad to have to leave a bad review after my first trip there. We found out about this place from a Facebook group and we're very excited to go try this restaurant.
Upon first appearance from parking lot, it was very dimly lit. Walking in there were 3 tables occupied , but no server or anyone around except for a really elderly woman who was sitting near the drink refrigerator. We waited a good five minutes or so and then a walk in customer came in to pick up an order. After a few minutes another lady came from the back to help the gentleman waiting at the counter. Gave him his food and rushed to the back and the elderly lady said something in her language and the other lady shouted back at her in front of everyone. Thought it was odd. But maybe she can't hear well.
Finally after serving the table next to us she came to greet us and offer us a beverage and took our order. After about 10 mins our food finally arrived.
Based on the reviews and photos, the food looked so delicious. Starving, salivating and waiting with anticipation. First to arrive was a pork rib, tofu and kimchi soup. It was bubbling around the edges of the stone pot it came in. But to our dismay the kimchi inside was still somewhat cold, the 2 itty bitty rib pieces were luke warm and there was one piece of tofu(at $19.99) I was visibly disappointed and my wife was hoping and praying that I wouldn't mention anything and just wait for our second dish. Maybe it was just a one off mistake and what we really came for was on it's way. A black bean noodle dish, 5 minutes later the cook was walking over,I could see the glimmer of a shiny silver bowl and my mouth started to water. And his smile and happy tone was very nice... As he walked away and told us to enjoy, I moved my eyes to the prize awaiting me on the table. My stomach sank, my temperature rose and that I knew it feeling hit my gut. Uuumpf... Frozen peas and carrots on top... Still frozen... As I'm sitting there , now my wife is telling me it's ok, let's just stir it up and give it a try, we came from Rosedale and Nord to try this. Let's just try to enjoy it. And at that moment I could feel a warmth of sorts,(forgot to mention,in a very cold establishment) the lady server was right behind me, and asked how was everything. At that moment I was shocked at how close she was, as she says "you have to mix it, stir" I let her know we understand and I think she could tell I wasn't too happy and she stared for a moment at my wife and then continued her rounds.
Long story short, The flavor was horrible, the temperatures were off all around and the ribs inside the stew tasted off... The noodles in the black bean dish were luke warm and had no flavor at all. Just felt like a substance of mass in my mouth, but no flavor. At that time we decided not to complain, not to make a mention(Santa was dining with Ms Clause and they looked very happy) We paid for our meal at the counter and left. I felt terrible leaving and wasting so much food. Just couldn't stomach it.
I truly am disappointed, because we have been searching for a good Korean restaurant since we moved here in Oct 2022. Having had some really good Korean food in Southern CA, we knew it wasn't going to be as good as down there, but we had high expectations. Maybe that was part of my problem tonight. Then again, frozen toppings on a Luke warm noodle dish, just...
Read morePlease come here. if i ever ask a random stranger on the internet to do something, it would be to ask them to come to Crazy BBQ. The owner was literally THEEEEE nicest human i've ever met. Me and my best friend came here for dinner to close out a long week at work. It was around 8pm on a Friday night and it was empty! We were seated right away. ordered the cheese teokbokki (my favorite thing ever in the entire world now) and the black noodle. It came with banchan as well. Everything was so tasty and flavored well. We also split a bottle of strawberry soju. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice bright vibe. There were kpop posters, tv's playing youtube and a local radio station playing in the background. Now my favorite part of the whole dinner was getting to meet Lydia. (hope i am spelling that right!) She was so sweet to me and my friend, i felt like we were here own family. She helped us prepare our food and let us know about a korean food festival (happening October 1st, 2023 at river walk btw!). I decided to order something to go and ended up talking to her. She told us that her daughter makes the macaroons in house and gave us one each for free. They were delicious! She also gave me and my friend some jujubes and taught us the name in korean. I had never heard or had a jujube before, so it was such an awesome moment to experience with another person. I could really feel the love. It was a little pricy but for the service we received it was beyond worth it. I would come here everyday if I could!! I really wish this restaurant got more attention, they whole heartedly...
Read moreThis place holds a very special place in my heart! If you haven't tried the Fried Garlic Chicken, you are missing out! It has a honey and garlic mixture under the chicken that makes this dish both sweet and savory! It is my absolute favorite! I also love the fresh and clean taste of the dumpling soup. Very basic yet oh so comforting. If you love green onion, you'll adore the soup because there is plenty larger cut green onions tossed in! It gives it a nice aroma and makes the dish for me! The fried rice is very delicious as well! Especially when it's paired with the fried boneless garlic chicken! Their kimchi is the first kimchi I've tried and actually like! This place is worth the trip and the staff are extremely caring and sweet! I always feel at ease when I'm there. A hidden gem on the east side for sure! Anyone complaining about it not being a BBQ spot needs to have better awareness because it has a massive menu in front of their shop windows with Korean food options that also specifically mentions the word...
