I discovered about five years ago or so that I'm something of a motorcycle enthusiast. Now, to illustrate this idea and put some perspective to it, I'm forty years old and part of me laments the time I had no clue that I love riding motorcycles. The attention and looks I get aren't really important here, being de facto the hottest woman in a place when I walk into a room isn't my fault or my idea of a great time owing mainly to the fact that men will try to get me to stop and chat with them and if I don't, I'm the evil one and I'm in the wrong. At least, that's what I get to hear from them...sort of. They're usually way more colorful with their words but I have to water this down just a tad because this isn't exactly an adult only forum.
But I digress... Back to the point here. I love riding my motorcycle and I have to say truthfully that I'm pretty darned good at it, too. People are usually surprised that I haven't been riding for several years and the truth at the heart of the matter is that I feel more natural on two wheels than I do on my own two feet. Not an exaggeration there. Suffice it to say that I've discovered a few tricks that make it possible for me to carry impossible cargo on a motorcycle without batting an eye. Fountain sodas are among the things I can carry with me on a bike that leaves others scratching their heads and asking how I'm going to manage that without spilling the drinks. In answer to your question, two lids keeps the cup from collapsing and keeps the drink from spilling. Now you know my secret... Bear it well, friends.
Anyway, I volunteered to help a friend and go pick up a dinner order from a Sonic that wasn't anywhere near the closest place, without knowing that I was going to have to carry six drinks and four meals back. Imagine my surprise when the waitress brought me the order, which I had to sit around and wait for because they hadn't even started it yet when I got there. That's the only star I took away here, for the squandering of my time. Good thing I emptied out my backpack because I thought ahead. That was notably wise, if I do say so myself.
The lady who brought me the order was so helpful and willing to learn how I was going to manage to take all that food and drink on a motorcycle that she almost seemed crestfallen when she figured out that I was going to tie everything to me that I almost apologized for the disappointment. We keep it simple. Sorry for the let down.
Long story short, I got everything back to the house without spilling any of the six drinks or smashing any of the four meals or extra burgers. I felt accomplished for that. I also got a great meal out of the bargain, the food was superb, and I like to think I enriched someone else's life and taught her something that just might come in handy someday. ...
Read moreOrdered the new oreo dark chocolate custard and received vanilla with some Oreos. I took it back and the lady talked to me like I was stupid. I explained that this is not what is being advertised and its supposed to be dark chocolate. She said what she gave me was what it looks like, because they are only allowed to put in a certain amount of chocolate powder. I told her I just want what I paid for which is what is being advertised. She took my custard then brought it back a few mins later. It was darker chocolate so I just thanked her and left rather then make a big deal. It was melted, because she didnt replace it just added more chocolate. I wasn't too happy about that but since I was headed home I thought I would just freeze it in my freezer. When I tried it at home I realized her solution was to just dump chocolate syrup in it to make it look darker. In CA a small custard is almost $5 otherwise I would not have bothered at all. The downtown Sonic does a much better job. If you are in Bakersfield go for the Sonic downtown and avoid the one on mallview. I have had several unpleasant experiences at this paticular Sonic and have stayed away for months. Thought to give it another try and it had...
Read moreGreat Food! Great Prices! The only thing that I found to be out of what I would consider "excellent service" catagory is the fact that it seems to take longer than it should getting your orders! No matter how busy it is otr what you order, for example one day I was the last of 4 cars and no one in the driver thru, I noticed all but myself and one other car hadnt gotten their order yet. I ordered a large coke with a lot of ice and a pretzel without cheese, and it took 26 minutes to get it! Another time I only ordered a coke with a lot of ice and was one of 7 cars parked in the stall and 3 in the drive thru, and it took 24 minutes to get just a beverage! I understand how busy it gets as I worked at Sonic in TX at 17 yrs old, and waitress for 22 yrs after that, but this is an area that could use improvement at this store, is getting things out to guests a little quicker. if its staff the there is a shortage of schedule another car hop? Prioritize getting drink only orders out first and it will make things run much smoother! Other than that great food...
