This is the third time I've went with my sister and her family to Hungry Hunters. The first time, my ribeye was overcooked, and when I’m paying over $40 for a steak at a STEAKHOUSE, I’m going to say something. The waitress asked if I wanted a new one made, but she had an attitude about it. I said yes, and she seemed super annoyed with our whole group. The clam chowder, mashed potatoes, and peppercorn sauce were delicious. Everyone else liked their steaks, but not their sides. We went back a second time and had a male waiter who was super friendly. I got the same thing, and everything was good. My brother-in-law’s steak was way undercooked, so they sent it back, cooked it, and the manager came and took that off the bill, she said this is embarrassing we are a steakhouse it should be cooked to the correct temperature, which was super nice. We went for the third time yesterday and had the same waitress we had the first time. I think her name is Alexis—dark hair with light eyes. I think someone else in the reviews must have had the same rude waitress because the first question she also asked us if this was our first time eating there. My sister says, "Oh, we made it for happy hour! The appetizers are half off." So we ordered the artichokes and stuffed mushrooms. The artichokes were good, but only one person at the table liked the mushrooms, so they ate most of them. The waitress asked how everything was, and we said the mushrooms weren’t good. She replied, “Well, you should have let me know,” with an attitude. Then my sister ordered a ribeye steak, and they once again overcooked it. The waitress asked if she wanted a new one made, and my sister said yes. Again, waitress seemed annoyed. Then she came back with the rarest steak I’ve ever seen, like they put on the grill for only 25 seconds, gross. My brother-in-law asked for a steak with teriyaki sauce, and they sent him a steak with pineapple and teriyaki. We told the waitress he didn’t want pineapple. She again had an attitude and said, “Well, I don’t know how I would just charge for teriyaki sauce.” He didn’t understand what the big deal was, since they did it last time with the male waiter with no problem. I got the cranberry jalapeno chicken, and it had no flavor and was dry, but I was too embaressed to complain. But for a 32 dollar chicken dish, I thought it would be amazing because it sounded good. At the end, the waitress suddenly became friendly, trying to get a good tip. Then my sister was looking at the check and noticed they added two ribeyes when we only ordered one. They also charged full price for appetizers, but then the waitress showed us a menu proving that the discount only applies if you sit at the bar. It’s crazy because we have two disabled people who can’t fit at the bar, and she heard my sister excited that we made it in time for happy hour. Wish she would have let us know before at that moment, before ordering them. Even though the waitress had an attitude, we still planned to tip her 25% but then my sister overheard her talking trash about us to another worker. So my sister went back and took the whole tip. Sorry, but a tip should not be mandatory when the food and service sucked. I understand it wasnt the waitress fault the food sucked but she didnt have to be upset at us about it. Anyone who worked there could see how dry and gross everything looked. We were not making it up to get a free meal. Trust me, I would have loved if we didnt have to have any issues with the service and food especially when paying those prices. I wanted to enjoy my time with my sister and not feeling awkward when everything kept going wrong. Ohhh and the place wasn't even too busy and all that took 2 hrs. Wild. Finally I think we learned our lesson and will never go back.I’m sure they’ll be happy. Lol. My advice is just go to Outback unless you are getting the clam chowder. Outback never messed up my steak, the steak is tastier, they’re always nice, all the food is actually good, and I think...
Read moreI'm usually not one to complain or make a bad review but last night was just awful here. Made dinner reservations for 630pm for party of 4 around 1220-1230pm. My wife and l wanted to take my sister and brother in law out to a nice dinner since we rarely see them. Upon arrival we checked in at the front and told them we had reservations for 630. The hostess told us it would be a few minutes being as we arrived 15 minutes early (not a big deal totally understand) The hostess then called my name for our party to be seated. As we started to make our way towards her she then said something along the lines of " I'm sorry but unfortunately we don't have any seating available inside(mind you it was Probably in the low 50s outside and my wife and sister get cold easy) would you mind sitting outside on the patio." Usually I would speak my mind about how their mismanagement of seating shouldn't be our problem. I looked around the restaurant and noticed quite a few tables/booths open. Initially my wife and sister said no but we were starving. We asked how long it would take for a seat indoors to which the reply was I don't know. My wife and sister said fine, since we were starving and had no clear answer as to when a table would be ready for us. we go outside to the patio area only to be seated on a singular tiny table barely big enough for 2 people let alone 4. We asked if we could put another table together so we had more room to which she stated im sorry there doesnt seem to be any available. She then pointed to another big party on the patio and said they should be done soon. They did have 2 propane heaters that were located dead center on the patio for warmth. Unfortunately we were seated on the SW end of the patio away from the heater. Again my wife and sister get cold easily so we moved the table a little closer to the heaters so they would at least have some form of warmth and me and my brother in law would just deal with being outside. Our waitress took our drink orders brought them out and seemed to disappear for quite a while (another reason I was leary of being on the patio. Seems that customers get forgotten) my wife had asked for sweetener for her tea before the waitress left. Sometime later the waitress came back outside and took our dinner order. Before we could ask for the sweetener she bounced over to another table. As she was headed back inside I had to raise my voice to catch her attention. I asked her for the sweetener once again. The salads came out at a reasonable time and were quite good. As the night went on I couldn't have been more disappointed and irritated with the atmosphere. Since we were seated outside we had to talk very loudly to hear eachother. This is in part to the location of the restaurant being next to 2 of the busiest highways in town and having a Costco directly across the parking lot. So our atmosphere consisted of loud traffic honking horns and bright headlights. Another party of 4 (who had 2 tables put together) finished with their dining and were leaving. So I figured perfect now we'll have room. We once again asked another female employee who seemed to be management if we could have another table for more room. She gave us a very reluctant look and said yea she'll have someone come out and clean it off. As our food arrived I was pleasantly surprised to how tasty the food was. Only complaint I have considering the food is that my prime rib went cold extremely fast due to the cold weather and lack of heat outside. Eating a cold prime rib isn't what I wanted. Due to the character limit I'm not able to leave the rest of the atrocious dining experience. The food is all that saved them from getting 1 star. We were never given another table. Can't wait to hear the generic insincere response...
Read moreOh my lord! I was beyond stoked to try this place out having heard amazing things about it. Very expensive so one would assume food is superb and Exquisite. Boy was I wrong and completely mislead. Having ordered one of the priciest steaks (18 oz ribeye medium with a mushroom n onion peppercorn sauce topping), I was left speechless when food arrived. Literally... Not only was the steak half fat and grissel, it tasted like it was cooked on the sizzling side walk in front of the restaurant considering it's beyond 115 degrees here in Bakersfield, CA. Was over cooked and I had two bites and told the waitress I was just full and wanted a doggy bag so I could bring it home to my puppy, which I did. He enjoyed the $45 steak that's for sure. It tasted so bad I was shocked when the waitress didn't question me further bcuz when I used to work in that field, if my customers didn't finish their meal, I took offense (in a good way) to it and did whatever I could to make them happier bout their experience dining with me. Again I'm not blaming the waitress it's not her fault the food was horrifically bad and the mushroom onion peppercorn sauce that was SUPPOSED TO GO ON TOP OF THE STEAK, came out 10 minutes after my steak, yet the 3 items were in separate dishes. Made no sense bcuz I was specific and clear about it when I ordered. And she knew what I wanted. This is all just my negative experience and I will never go back. Anyone who reads this please be careful and do not order the steak, any of them, bcuz it won't be the way you want it. Nor should anyone get their Caesar salad too! That's a whole other scenario that I will simply say unless you want to DRINK THE DRESSING, get the soup bcuz there was so much dressing and little amounts of romaine, I used a spoon rather than a fork no joke. But that pales in comparison to everything else. The only bright spot, well 2 actually, was the waitress was beautiful and so sweet and kind and caring yet was so busy she failed the attention to detail and that's not good. She was, however, on point with refilling our drinks which was another good thing. This post is long enough. I'll leave it there. I wish I had a photo to share but I didn't want to ever see that steak again haha. Hungry hunter management, if y'all are seeing this, we spent over $300 on a dinner for 4 celebrating my father's bday. It might be in your best interest to somehow find or figure out a way to touch base with him since he could have gone anywhere else in the city. But he chose hungry hunter and I'm pretty sure that is the last time as well. Good luck to everyone I hope y'all have better experiences than my...
