Found ourselves in Star Furniture looking for a leather sofa. All went well, sofa was delivered it was just the color I wanted. But after 4 months old the top coloring of our FlexSteel Dandrige Sofa bargain to peel off showing a mustard color beneath! After 6 months it looked horrific, calling Star Furniture several times, I finally recived a call back. Four more months went by before we got their repair man to come out and look at the sofa, he said it would be cheaper to replace it! That's where the fun began, The manager really didn't want to deal with us, so we took to leaving a negative online review! Well shoot then all broke loose, he then said he would replace the sofa but we had to bring the old one back first and be without any sofa for 6 weeks! Yes 6 weeks! We said no, that's rediculase why can't we bring it back when the new sofa is in (because they wouldn't pick it up unless we payed $200 for pick up and another $200 delivery for the new sofa). Now he gets very angry we arnt just saying ok yeah please walk all over us! He then got very hyper (the nicest thing I can all it) berated me over the phone, called us liars on our online review, then said we in fact would not get a replacement sofa until the review was taken down! I said apsolutly not you cannot blackmail people that's against the law, he started to call me a stupid women but stopped himself but yeah I caught it. I told him how dare you speak to me like that I am not dealing with you, and I hung up! He proceeded to call me 13 times that day leaving about 5 voicemails wanting me to call him! After two days we called him and threatened to call the local news station if he did not replace to sofa and will not be without a sofa for 6 weeks! Magically all of the sudden the replacement sofa was there and we could pick it up the next day! Which we did and guess what in 6 months it to fell apart, complained the the manufacturer who said they had to go thru star furniture and guess what we've been ignored now by both, neither will return phone calls or emails! Buyer Beware!!! $2000+ sofas only last 6 months from star furniture but if you like being called names yelled at and harassed then by all...
Read moreI found a lovely couch and recliner set but nowhere to get them. The one local place that could was asking double the MSRP. My last effort led me to Star. They slipped my mind initially when I was calling around and they didn't pop up in online search results. I found that they did advertise the exact set I'd been looking at, and a great deal on them also. I immediately ordered and opted to pick up. The instructions provided said I would receive a call after ordering to arrange everything. A couple days go by. The transaction was still pending and due to fall off. I emailed a copy of the invoice from the automated reply to the store direct email and then called to ask if everything was okay. The gentleman I spoke with seemed pretty irked to be on the phone. I said we could do this in the morning since it was pretty close to 7pm. He asked what the issue was. I was afraid the payment would fall off if they didn't accept it on their end today. I was told that the guy who handles the online stuff only comes in as needed and nobody checks the email. He asked what I purchased and I told him. Without missing a heartbeat said if it was in the store it would take 6 weeks, if not, 14. I said hesitantly, "Okay, thank you. I suppose we wait and see." He promptly hung up. Before the night was over, the charge moved from pending to just plain gone. It still had half a day before it would have dropped. Is it because of the time I called, didn't want delivery, or because I ordered online? I felt like I had gotten a bad number or a fraudulent line so I double checked everything- that's how strange this whole ordeal was. Now I wait and see if the invoice does get checked tomorrow. If had better be an exemplary response if I'm going to start all over again with them. Why didn't I get a 5 star review...
Read moreI do not recommend purchasing furniture from this store. My husband and I were looking for a sectional for our living room and had an awful experience when we visited Star. The first time we went in to see what they had we walked in about half an hour before closing (we were fully aware of the time when we came in) just to get an idea of the options available. The manager proceeded to follow us through the store turning off the lights and counting down the minutes until they were closing and then kicked us out the back door.
Despite our first experience we decided to go back and give them another chance. We did work with a wonderful sales associate on this visit and found a couch that we liked. When we sat down to order our couch we found out the material we wanted was an "upgraded material" and was going to cost more money than listed on the tag. The couch was also shown on the floor with 3 pillows and the manager told us that we could only have 2. The material that we wanted on the pillows was the same material that was shown on the floor sample but apparently this was the "upgraded material" as well making it so none of the pillows would be included. If we wanted the 3 pillows that were shown on the display we were going to have to pay $75.
We left to go see if another store could purchase this same sectional at a more reasonable price and provide better customer service and that is when we learned that Star was changing the brand on their furniture so that customers cannot price compare throughout town.
We ended up going to a store in Santa Clarita and purchasing the very same sectional with the material displayed and three pillow for less than advertised at Star furniture. This price also included a 5 year fabric warranty, scotch guarding, delivery,...
