Old River Grill at the Marketplace — Restaurant in Bakersfield

My mother and I waited 15 minutes just to get a coffee and hot chocolate. Both the cups had this oil residue in the liquid and the drinks were watered down. We waited an additional 40 minutes to get our food, which tasted like cardboard. The beigents had zero filling inside and they were just crunchy thin pieces of old dough. It was like some bandit scooped out my beigents and let me have the shells. It wasn't even busy. I don't know why they took so long. Maybe some issue with the kitchen?? But the food was garbage and the prices were overpriced for what they were. For example, $18 for two sausage patties and two poached eggs with hashbrowns, like what the heck???

Our waitress was obviously new and incredibly nice, but she forgot like half our order and after being reminded twice about getting a new drink that wasn't in a oily cup, I never got that new drink. She did take off my mother's breakfast, but the price was $45 after and all we got was an order a crepes (with no sides), hot chocolate, coffee, and the beignays???

Everyone sitting next to us had the fattest frowns on their faces, so im assuming they also had a bad experience with our food.

I don't know if they were just having a horrible day in the kitchen or something, but it was not a fun...

I recently visited this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and excellent food. There was seating available indoor and out. The seating was comfortable and the decor was charming, creating a great atmosphere for a meal.

Now, let's talk about the food. The menu had a great variety of options to choose from and I really enjoyed everything I ordered. The portions were generous and the food was cooked to perfection. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, making the meal even more enjoyable.

So today was my second time being at this restaurant and the food was good both times, but I got a little disturbed in the restaurant because I got up to go to the bathroom when I first got there and placed my order. And while I was in the bathroom, one of the workers that's in there serving food was in there using the bathroom at the same time, I was and I observed her shoes of course and as we both existed the stalls, I washed my hands, she got straight off the toilet flushed it and went right back into the restaurant and started working.
