I recently stayed here for 3 days. I didn’t have to go to the front desk for anything, not even for check in. I used my digital key. Upon entering the room you could tell that it was slightly dated just by looking at the kitchen area. Which was not a problem because I did not need the kitchen. I did look at the dishes and they looked to be in good condition. When I opened the fridge there was some stains on the door like something had been spilled. Nothing too bad though. I was only putting my bottles of water in there anyway. Though the stain was very obvious so I’m wondering how good of a job housekeeping is. The room itself was nice and spacious, nice size television, big bed and clean. Upon further inspection of the room I could see that the wallpaper had started to peel back. They should just get rid of the wallpaper and paint the walls white in my opinion, but I digress. The reason for the 3 stars? Wallpaper is peeling. Stain in the fridge. And when I went to turn on one of the lamps there was NO lightbulb. I did not call the front desk because the only reason for me using that particular light was to take photos of the room. I’m sure if I would have notified the front desk they would have promptly taken care of it. Also I was a little hot so I went to turn the air down. I searched all over for the thermostat and I could not find it. Turns out it was BEHIND the TV in the living room. A VERY INCONVENIENT place for a thermostat. I had to turn TV and and reach behind. I could barely see what the thermostat said when I hit the buttons because it was at a very awkward place. Then when I went to get a Kleenex to wipe my nose, I pull one out of the box and it was DAMP. I pull a few more out and those are DAMP too. It is very disgusting to touch a damp Kleenex. Turns out the whole bottom of the box was WET!! I had breakfast on my last day there( I remembered to take a pic after I had almost finished eating. Sorry). There were a variety of choices and the area looked clean and well maintained. So , the thermostat placement, peeling wallpaper, stain in the fridge and wet Kleenex is why I gave 3 Stars. Also the bed was not as soft as I would have liked. I think the bed is just old. Overall, would I stay here again. Yes Everything that made this visit 3 stars is not horrible. Though the thermostat placement does give me pause and it was in a VERY...
Read moreAs I always say, I only use Hilton for when I travel for work. Pulling up to this location I was immediately amazed by its entry and curb appeal. Finally for the first time Hilton did not make me have to go to the front desk to check in, rather being able to do it over the app. Unfortunately I do have some complaints but also some compliments. My latch on my on my door was loose which made me kinda uncertain about my safety. My foot stools had holes in it. My bathtub wasn’t as clean as I would desire. And my room was at the top floor just too close to the elevator. The pros are the young lady at the front desk was absolutely pleasant and helpful. Had great conversation, I wish I would have gotten her name but she was working on 12/7/23 got off at 11 pm. My room was spacious. I definitely love walking in seeing my name on the tv, I find that to be quite welcoming. Location was magnificent so many choices of places and also stores near by within 3 miles maybe even less. I had extra pillows and blankets and didn’t have to ask. And the tv had great options for entertainment. It wasn’t perfect but I am still willing to give it an 8 out of 10. Oh yeah and the air conditioning went down to 50 degrees. I tend to run hot at night so that was definitely appreciated as well. I tend to be in Bakersfield often for work so I will definitely choose this one again, maybe reserve sooner to get a...
Read moreThere are some people who just shine when times are roughest for others. Deanette at the Hilton Homewood Suites in Bakersfield, California on nightshift is one of them. I live in Kansas City. While Christmas is usually bright and happy for most - this was not one of them for us. My father came down with a ruptured appendix and barely alive. My mother drove him 2 hours out of the mountains to get to the hospital in Bakersfield for emergency surgery. It has been touch and go with complications.
We needed to find new Hilton hotels closer to his location and make every changing reservations and extensions both your online help desk and your front desk staff have been kind, supportive and helpful. But none shone brighter than Danette. Her compassion ozes from her pours. Her help, service and genuine kindness in anything she could do to support me and my mother on tag team schedules around the clock was and is nothing short of the brightest light surrounded by strangers in a strange place away from both our homes.
Hilton - you employ damn good people that make our experience worth every dime we flow back towards your business. I thank you from the bottom on my heart this season. It goes without saying you have a customer...
