To preface, the store was NOT busy. Ive been in there when its busy, and I know what busy looks like in a restaurant seeing as I worked right across.
It's been a bit, but I've been swamped with work lately, but couldn't forget to review.I came in on April 27th with a party of three after a movie, the hosts were super kind, and welcoming and I was excited to eat here seeing as it had been a while since I last came to P.F. Changs. As a previous industry worker, literally right across the street from you guys at BJ's. I'm pretty decent at leaving a tip, but boy let me tell you.. If it wasn't for the fact that me not leaving a tip, meant that I'd also be stiffing the wonderful food runners and bussers who brought EVERYTHING and refilled my drinks..... I would have left a big fat zero. The only thing our waiter did the whole time I was there, was "take our order", bring a check I never asked for, and proceed to take ages to get me my boxes. I just wanted to leave. Not once were we asked how our food was(it was okay but the honey chicken was still doughy and undercooked), or if we wanted any refills. Our glasses remained empty for long periods of time before I had to resort to asking another staff member. Something I hate doing because I know that the section I'm sitting in, is not THEIR responsibility. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and unenjoyable experience overall. I see the effort you made in trying to be "nice" but it was horribly offset by the lack of care in every other aspect of wait staffing. I get that you really don't get paid enough to care as much as I do in terms of a "restaurant" experience, but I truly believe that there are BARE MINIMUMS when it comes to holding a job in this industry. It's also going to help business, for YOU the waiter AND for the restaurant.
P.F. Changs, thank your hosts, food runners, buses for saving you from a 1 star. This was an isolated experience and I do not speak on behalf of anyone. My complaints are directed at an individual and not the entire establishment. I have had great experiences and many memorable lunch breaks here. My current rating is for the current...
Read moreP.F. Chang’s in Bakersfield and their $17.99 specials Appetizer :Egg flower soup. Entree 1: Chang’s Spicy Chicken over white rice. Entree 2: Orange Chicken over fried rice. Food was tasty; both entrees were served very quickly, but the food was warm at best, and portions were big kid-size, not adult-size. Overall review: disappointed with the food — good deal, but didn’t compare to the always fresh Panda Express meals. The main reason I stopped going to P.F. Changs 10 years ago was because of mediocrity, and giving them a chance in 2025, the mediocrity of the food is the reason I won’t go back. I mentioned the mediocrity of the food and the portions to my wife, and she agreed. This place was empty when we went on a Saturday evening, and that’s pretty much unheard of for most restaurants in Bakersfield. After dinner, when I drove by the Panda Express, the drive-thru was full. I’m not quite sure what P.F. Changs should do, but serving the customer warm chicken and rice when there are only five or six couples in the whole restaurant isn’t the best business practice to keep them coming in. The staff on all levels—from the greeter, server, waiter, and bartender—were all outstanding. Just to compare, a hot three-item combo at Panda Express will run you about $14, and the food is always good, and so much easier. A sit-down dinner at a beautiful establishment like P.F. Chang’s for under $20 is a great price point; however, the food has to be at least...
Read moreThe busy server saved this from being a 0star review... Three of us ordering. My youngest ordering long life noodles and prawns with no chili's. It came covered in chili flakes(not whole chili's), shrimp and noodles. You would think that would mean not to make it hot!!! My other child ordered dynamite shrimp(8) that was served on a large mound of shredded cabbage(not notated on the menu). Also served soggy on the batter. I ordered the Thai harvest curry with chicken. Hardly any chicken and small bits to boot. The curry taste could not be found. Tasted more like a peppered cream with hot rings on chili peppers hidden in the mix. None of us finished our food and my kids actually didnt feel good towards the end of our meal. The waiter who assisted us must have noticed when we all declined to get togo boxes. He apologized and offered us dessert. I tasted both my kids food and couldnt believe how unappetizing they were. Ultimately, I blame the chef. It his that person's responsibility to taste the food to meet customer expectations before having it delivered to the customer. That did not happen in this case. And because of that, we had to cancel plans today due to stomach issues for my kids. Too bad. The place had a great ambience that we...
