Ugh. I was more than willing to skip writing a review and look pass the bland soup broth, flavorless chili oil, dirty table, and funky smelling bathroom, BUT then we had this experience: Our server (receipt says Pauline) was friendly , we were greeted upon entry, which I always appreciate. The real plants and minimal decoration gave the restaurant a cute vibe. I ordered a large veggie pho it was only $1 more than the regular. My sister ordered the large rare steak pho. We also ordered the chicken wings…which were more like teeny tiny chicken bone with a nibble bite size of dry shriveled meat on them (they came 20 minutes after we ordered). We politely asked to return the chicken wings. The server came back to us saying we had to pay 50% of the wings because they were already cooked. We did not argue, simply stated our disappointment, explained why we were returning the wings, and continued eating our pho. The bill came, and yes, we were charged $6 for wings we did not touch nor take away with us. Never have I ever experienced returning a food item and being told to pay half - even if I had already eaten some of the item. My hope is that the supervisor realizes what a rude concept that is, deducts that $6 charge and gives it to our server as tip. Not her fault the cooks are serving uneatable food. THE FOOD: Chicken Wings with fish sauce - DON’T YOU DARE. Smallest chicken wings I’ve ever seen. A few had strange discoloring. Very dry over cooked and shriveled. Upon looking at it, I dare not touch it. Sent back to kitchen, was still charged 50%. Veggie Pho - liked that there was fried and soft tofu, plenty of veggies. Broth was bland af. Didn’t taste any kind of beef bouillon or seasoning. Had to use plenty of oyster sauce and sriracha to minimally enjoy the meal. Rare steak Pho - bland broth. Steak a bit overcooked.

The quality of the food and the cleanliness of the environment are the primary contributors of my rating. The rating is not a reflection of the service; the staff were quite nice and attentive. In regards to the food, the broth was not the most flavorful. It had a slight sweet, licorice root taste. Personally, I prefer savory or spicy food over sweet foods, so it was not for my taste. Second, when arriving, there were only 2 other tables taken near the window but I saw small scraps of trash sprinkled around other areas the room that were not picked up. I also noticed sticky spots on the table we were directed to. What concerned me most, were multiple small wet areas on the floor that I noticed on the way to my table. Im assuming due to dropped pho but I would hate to think if someone accidently slipping.

I walked in with pretty high hopes. The atmosphere and decor are inviting, and the service was genuinely friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn’t match the setting. We ordered the combination pho, and honestly—it was the most flavorless broth I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to some pretty questionable pho spots. At least the shrimp spring rolls and Thai tea were decent, but that’s about where the highlights ended. I can’t speak for the rest of their menu, but do yourself a favor and skip the pho—it’s a letdown, especially for a place called Pho Hut. To make matters worse, the AC clearly wasn’t working, which is brutal in the Bakersfield heat. Great vibes, kind staff, but mid food and stifling air make it hard to recommend.

I am not one to leave bad reviews. However. The service was so bad I feel it is very deserved! First we were only offered to sit at a table we were not comfortable at. There were only a few tables being used. The rude lady told us they were not seating except at the few small tables in front. Leaving most of the spaces empty. We were not comfortable sitting so close to the other tables. We also had my 2 year old grandson with us. So we politely asked if we could sit a little further back and a bigger table. The First Lady was so rude ! She made a face. Put her hands up and said “ Sure ! Do what ever you want .!” She made it very obvious she didn’t like us asking. During our time there Three other customers also asked to sit at a different table also. I was glad to see it was not just us ! The server that seated us was very sweet. We asked for a moment with the menu and in that time she got busy. She was working the register and checking people out. Then several people came in around the same time. ,, they were all seated and the rude lady got all their orders ! And drinks. Mean while after the third table was seated , with drinks AND orders taken. ,,,,, my server was still busy on the register. Remember we have a two year old with us. ,,, so after 15 minutes of watching everyone else get their orders I raised my hand and said excuse me we are ready to order now. I was very polite about it. She looked at me and said “She will be right with you ,,” mean while we watched a whole other table be seated ! So finally the nice waitress came back to take our order. We ordered Thai tea with ice waters. We never got our waters. When the food came out another 20 minutes later ,,,,, the broth to the beef pho was very bland. ,,, very little veggies!!!! We asked for another plate of the fixings. ,, we waited and waited for that. Then it didn’t have the lemons or jalapeño’s. So we had to ask again. We had to ask for literally everything!!!! We asked for chili paste. And chili oil. There was another wait. And there were 4 adults eating with us. ,, they brought the tiniest little dip of chili oil. So AGAIN we had to ask for more !!!! Meanwhile we were still waiting on WATERS !!!! Half way through my pho I finally had to get up from my seat and walk up to the counter. Trying to be patient! ,,,, I asked for our waters at the counter. The rude lady told me to wait and give them “ a moment “ I said thank you and sat back down. She continued to talk to the other server about some order that came in earlier that day. And listening to her go on and on. , while laughing and completely ignoring getting our waters. ,,, I walked back up to the counter AGAIN. I just looked at her and she said “ yea I know you want water “. I was like yes ! I really need a water. Please ! And she told me to have a seat and they would bring it. I just told her no I’ll stand here and wait. I really need my water. There was more but it’s so much to type. , the one lady was so so rude !!! And she made it so obvious! She should have gotten our order when our other lady got busy. And to top it off. The food was not good. Did I mention the broth was cold ! After eating here for several years. We will not return.,,, we were there over 90 minutes and only 20 of those was eating. The rest was us asking for what normally comes with pho ! Normally they make sure you have the fixings and offer the oils. Normally you do not have to beg for water ( three times asking ) and normally you are not treated bad when you want a different seating. And also the...

Thai tea: 5 stars, not overly sweet which I prefer.

Combination rice: boyfriend ate this and said it was 3.8 stars (haha). To be clear this was the rice with all the meat

Chicken pho: negative stars. I actually ordered the food to go and after taking two bites I ended up making something at home which was a huge bummer to waste money, especially when I bought food to relax for the night. I've never had a broth that was SWEET and no where on their menu did they mention it being sweet. It tasted like cinnamon and licorice which most people either love or hate, I CANNOT stand!!! If they're trying to do something different with a unique flavor profile, they should definitely label it on their menu!!

Menu: 1 star. Their menu is very confusing and non discript. They don't explain the ingredients or what actually come with/on the items

Service: 3 stars. We ordered to go so please take this with a grain of salt. We waited about 20minutes for our order which was fine. The waitress asked if we were ready to order and we said no, she left and asked us about 45seconds later and when we said no again she rolled her eyes. Felt pressured so I panic ordered and it didn't turn out well for me lol.

Overall $29 and I would not go there again, I much prefer Maui pho. If my boyfriend didn't have a decent experience I would give 0/5.

But for real I will order Thai tea if you...
