Food Poisoning If you are thinking about eating at Red Lobster, read this first.** My wife and I went to Red Lobster for an early dinner Saturday 3/12/16 on Rosedale. It was about 4:00pm. I decided on the shrimp and steak. She wanted a variety so she picked the Admirals Feast, an entrée platter. The waitress we had was nice. She was new but still did a fine job. After I received the bill of $53.05, I tipped her 20%. (check #59312) We asked for a carryout box so we could take the leftovers. I grabbed the box and my wife and I left and decided to head towards a furniture store a couple of miles away. Once we got there, it wasn't long before she was feeling sick and had to use the bathroom. She ended up vomiting extensively. We left for home which was about 15 minutes away and again she rushed to the bathroom. My poor wife was throwing up for hours. I ended up having to call an ambulance because her bouts were so frequent that I would not have been able to drive her to the hospital. They took her to the hospital in an ambulance. I followed. She looked miserable as I watched her throwing up in the ambulance. We got to the hospital and still constantly vomiting almost non stop. I was freaking out and helpless watching her go through all this. They finally got her a room after waiting in front of the emergency desk for about an hour. They stood there with her while she vomited over and over in front of everybody. We were at the hospital overnight. Dr. Wu would come in checking on her as well as a couple of nurses. They gave her medicine several times to help stop the nausea. To help with the pain she was having, they gave her morphine. Who the heck gets morphine? Cancer patients! Obviously it was severe. Still vomiting, they had to give her potassium and an IV. She could barely talk. I sat by her side all night while she held the special little blue vomit bags close to her. Dr. Wu came in at about 7:00am the next morning and said that she seems better and he would be prescribing 3 medicines for her to take for the food poisoning. I took her home and then got her prescriptions filled. Well, it's Monday and she is still vomiting. She tried to eat some chicken noodle soup but was unable to keep it down. The Dr. said the food poisoning can last up to 4 days. She called out of work today, I went to work this morning. my wife called me to come home to help her a few hours later. She is miserable and I am trying to do everything that I can for her. So our special dinner turned out to be a nightmare, and a very expensive one at that. I will never go to a Red Lobster again. Looks like we may be going back to the hospital. She's vomiting as I write this damned letter. 6:30pm.
These guys don't care about you at all. It's all about them taking your money and pushing you out the door. Red Lobster is refusing to pay for the hospital bills that were a result from food poisoning from their restaurant in Rosedale. Do yourself a big favor and don't eat at this restaurant. My wife was sick for days. She had no fever but was constantly throwing up. If you ever thought about being poisoned, this was exactly how she was reacting. I never got a response to this message either. They don't care. My wife has been dealing with their insurance company and they rejected our claim. Don't go to...
Read more9/12/24: Went in with a reservation, so I was seated quickly. Great! Server was a young man named Ted. Ted was pleasant until he bluntly informed me that the “Endless Shrimp” Deal was only offered on Mondays now when I tried to order: “That’s only Mondays now.” Quick response like it was a debate match and in a smart tone. He didn’t even suggest ordering “Shrimp Your Way”, or state that I could still order my favorites off the “Endless Shrimp” menu à la carte, or offer any other suggestions.. I knew I had options. Ted “gave us a minute”. He even brought us some Cheddar Bay Biscuits in the meantime. Thank you, once again. My brother and I sat there.. Big brother decided he didn’t want to settle either, as he too went in for the “Endless Shrimp”, so we got up and walked out. Didn’t even touch the tempting Cheddar Bays, mind you. We were wished a good night by the friendly female host as we walked out. At least. Sorry, I wasn’t aware beforehand that the deal was now exclusively on Mondays. I really wish I had known. It would have saved me the embarrassment I felt at the moment I was bluntly informed. To explain: I had not returned since last year when the deal was literally “all day every day”. Last year I went in for “All You Can Eat Shrimp” just about every other week with friends and family. Our server Mercedes was always awesome last year. Maybe she would have kindly offered suggestions to cheer me up. I’m not sure if Ted was maybe tired by that time, and his patience was running short ? My reservation was for 7:45, to be honest .. My job too has a customer service element to it, and it is BUSY as well, so I understand how overwhelming it can get some days, especially busy days, and how easily one can get flustered, but I did not experience adequate customer service. I can’t imagine what the issue(s) could have been. To be honest, I took it personally. I was so disappointed in Red Lobster this time. I was looking forward to “tipping the bill” and stating it was only fair after how many rounds of Crispy Dragon Shrimp (my favorite off the menu) alone I made my server bring me! per usual. I could go on, but I guess this is enough, and I don’t mean to make any false claims or assumptions. I’m even refraining from stating where I took my business to and was not disappointed last night. I live in Delano, and can easily take my business up north to Visalia or even Fresno in the future, but Bakersfield’s Red Lobster is my all-time favorite. I was very...
Read moreFirst and foremost, shout out to Benjamin the waiter. He was very nice, seemed a bit nervous, but overall a great waiter. When I told him it was my mom's birthday he went out of his way to help celebrate with us and sang Happy birthday (two guys including Ben and yes they both wore masks, I didn't know they still did that singing thing). There was a wait for them to clean up a table, which was no issue. My kiddos eyeballed the lobster tank. We ordered our food and began our conversation/ waiting. This was my second time eating here, the first time as a young teen. The wait wasn't horrible as we snacked on that tasty bread, not too much garlic, and oh soft. When our food arrived my eyes were full just by looking at all the plates. My kids got children portion items and they were content with the size but disappointed by the taste. My oldest got fires and chicken, both had minimum seasoning. Chicken was dry, she was disappointed. I shared most of my meal with her as she dipped her fires into their ketchup grave. My youngest had the fried fish with orange wedges. She loved the fish insides but thought the breading was salty, which I agree. Orange wedges were yummy though. I had lobster, salmon, shrimp with a baked potato and steamed broccoli. Now mind you ive never eaten actually lobster. It was at times more chewy than I expected and slippery at others. The salmon was amazing, well seasoned and cooked to perfection or dam near whatever prefect taste like. The shrimp was also well seasoned but a bit harder to chew than I thought, maybe the shrimp worked out too much. The broccoli was good and the baked potato was delicious, not salted at all which is good for my health. I had peach tea and after drinking unsweetened green tea all day it was refreshing. My mom had basically the same thing I did but with rice and mashed potatoes, it was called something else but I can't recall the fancy name. She also had giant Pina colada looking smoothie, thing was comical size. Bit too sugary according to her but still tasty. Overall it was a enjoyable experience and I do...
