This place needs to work on communication. My first and last time here for now . I went on a Saturday morning. The lady in the front giving wait times told me it was going to be a 35 minute wait . So I left to the store in the same plaza for 15 minutes to kill time. I come back to keep waiting . And I just thought let me ask how much longer . The lady in the front tells me she called me about 13 minutes ago and I didn’t respond. And that she would call my husband and I to a table for 2 shortly . So I said ok no worries. We are waiting and waiting 35minutes turns into 45 min and two groups of people who got there after us got seated first. Also i saw a friend and her daughter just get there they saw me and came to say hi and as I walked up to hug her I heard the Host lady tell her it would be 15minutes long for them. At this point I thought well maybe she forgot us and skipped us ok simple mistake totally understand . I walk up to the host and ask her again what time would we be called In it’s been 45 minutes out . She looks down and she says “oh I called your name 13 minutes ago and you never responded . So we skipped you . When I had asked earlier and she said she would seat us down shortly. So I proceed to remind her she told us the wait time was 35minutes long so I left to the store right next to them to kill a bit of time for only 15minutes. Plus there was two tables that were open for two people seating . So I was confused why she didn’t seat us down when I went to ask the wait time after 15 min . When she said she called us 13 minutes ago . Technically they had that table open still it was barley 2 min after they called me I got there. So if I never went up and asked she would of never called us and kept skipping us. she said that 35minutes is the estimated wait time for Everybody and I let her know then why did she tell my friend over there with her daughter is a 15minute wait time for her ? And she tried to brush it off and not even at least apologize for having us wait 45 minutes long, longer than 35 minutes. So she quickly says we will seat you in 2 minutes so I said” ok thank you “. We get seated and I was going to order the “boring breakfast “ and so I asked the lady taking the order if instead of bacon or sausage can I just substitute it with avocado 🥑. She automatically came off with an aggressive attitude letting me know they don’t do any substitutes or change anything that the menu is is the way it is and that they don’t add or change anything to it. I think the host told the waitress the whole wait time situation and blamed it on me for her to come off with an aggressive response. So I said oh ok no worries and just ordered their strawberries and cream pancakes 🥞 and a sunny side up egg on the side with a cafe de olla. My husband ordered the Chile relleno burger and a Orange juice . The waitress didn’t bring and creamer for my coffee , no butter on the side or syrup . The pancakes were so dry , the coffee was too sugary. My husband did enjoy his Chile relleno burger and his orange juice , I’m glad one of us enjoyed the meal at least . Honestly at this point I didn’t want to even ask for any extra stuff because the way the waitress was responding to us was not cool. I’m not sure if they were having a bad day or it was just an off day or maybe they had rude customers before us . But I really didn’t want to make their day any worse . So I just left it as that . I didn’t even finish the pancake I only ate half . I don’t think I would be coming back here anytime soon . And I was so excited to go to this place too and honestly I was so disappointed. I know it’s a new place and they are trying to adjust still . I hope the best for...
Read moreWe celebrated a birthday and arrived around 9:10am on a Sunday; there was no wait, they sat us down even though our party wasn't complete. Our server Maria was very sweet and accomodating.
We ordered Chilaquiles Verdes, Enfrijoladas with chicken, Huevos con Weenies, with a side of Pork Belly and the special of the day, Chorizo & potatoe breakfast burrito with a sunny side egg on top.
Chilaquiles verdes were delicious, a generous serving of freshly made chips, salsa verde, queso cotija, crema, pickled onions, avocado & a fried egg on top. Flavors were on point!
Enfrijoladas with chicken were quite flavorful, again a very generous portion, the bean sauce was so good; topped with crema, queso, pickled onions and roasted jalapeños. The chicken was cubed & grilled and well seasoned.
Special of the Day Chorizo and potato burrito, filled with avocado and cheese, served cut in half, topped with a sunny side egg & a splash of green and red salsas. This was devoured; the chorizo was meaty & spicy and the pototoes absorbed all those juices as well. Both the green & red salsas were great, ask for extra.
Weenies con Huevo, sounded so good and nostalgic but unfortunately the flavors weren't there. The eggs tasted a little runny and the bowl ended up being soupy because of the egg & the pico de gallo. The weenies were bland and mushy, they didn't seem like a smoked sausage.
Pork Belly was excellent; sweet, savory & rich.
All plates were topped with micro greens, it was more like a micro cilantro, explosion of flavor.
The cafe de la olla was good but too sweet for me, I asked if I could have half regular and half de la olla which ended up being a great balance. When our server went on break, the server that covered would only serve me regular coffee even though I asked her for a combo of both. I would've loved to have more de la olla.
The servers gathered around to sing 'Happy Birthday' and brought out a pancake with berries, vanilla ice cream and sweet cream. Very much appreciated!
The owner came over to check on us, he was very nice and talkative. We really appreciated everything he shared with us especially how much he cares about using quality ingredients.
The decor and ambience is fun & whimsical with great art pieces all around. I would love to go back once they get their alcohol license;...
Read moreWe saw this place open up a few months ago and I've been wanting to give it a try. We read other's reviews and saw the photos much were mostly positive. So I decided today's brunch would be at Vaca. The interior had some unique and creative layouts. The service was fast and friendly but THE FOOD was incredibly disappointing. For the drinks, they were presented in cute ways (we ordered the mocha latte abuelita frappe and the plain latte). For the plain latte it wasn't exactly plain, there were hints of cinnamon and topped with cinammon (the latte art) which kinda defeats the purpose of it being called plain. The sizes were worth their price. We ordered the Steak and Eggs, 3 Leches Waffles, 3 Conchas, and the Steak Tacos. For the Steak and Eggs, the eggs tasted like they were not seasoned which is okay as some restaurants do not season the eggs and leave it to customer preferences. We asked for the salt and the salt shakers had granules that were larger than the openings so it was annoying to shake some salt out. I took off the cap and sprinkled some to get my desired amount and save the minor hassle. The steak had a bad aftertaste akin to meat that's been left out a while or a little stale. The 3 Leches waffles took an upsetting amount of time for waffles to come out. It was maybe about 30 minutes or more. It was the last thing that came to our table near the end of our dining experience. We also took it to go because it wasn't that great. It had a bread like texture and the coconut cream sauce it comes with did not compliment it as well as it should have. The steak tacos were bland. It came with no additional toppings or condiments. The 3 conchas were listed as you getting 3 different flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and I forgot the other one. But they all tasted nearly the same. They were just different in color. Overall, for looks and service they did great. The price for portion was equivalent to the amount being paid. The food, which is the most important part for restaurants, was sadly unsatisfactory and left us wanting more. We headed over to a nearby Broken Yolk Cafe and Camp Miller for...
