I just left the restaurant. I ordered Eggs Benedit Florentine, medium not runny, with a side of grits. And, one crab cake. I also received an extra side of grits that I did not order. The eggs were runny. So, I refused to eat the food and asked for a bill for the crab cake that I ordered. That was fair as I had already finished half of the crab cake when my breakfast was served to me. I explained to my server that unndercooked eggs can cause salmonella poisoning and it can kill you. My server offered to have the Eggs Benedit re-made. I declined the offer because...if you know what can happen to your food when you send it back, then you know.
The general manager, Molly, brought me my bill. Briefly: I explained that salmonella can be fatal. She blamed me, stating "You cannot have medium Eggs Benedit that is not runny. That's impossible." I responded, "Then, he should have told me, because I was very clear when I said that I do not want the eggs runny. And, I should not be charged for the grits that I did not order and did not eat." Molly responded, "Well, I'm going to charge you for the grits anyway." So, to be clear, I asked, "You're going to charge me for the food that I did not eat because I did not order it?" She said, "Yes."
So, I paid the bill in full. Because this is a dangerous world that we live in nowadays. I did not want to be physically assaulted for not paying for food that I did not order/eat. And, I was afraid that Molly would call the police on me. I'm a 66 year old woman. I weigh 132 ponds. I never raised my voice. I did not present a threat/danger to anyone. I was kind, courteous, and respectful to everyone that I encountered at the restaurant on the two days that I patronized this business establishment.
NOBODY should be charged/have to pay for food that they did not order/eat. If I ate the food and refused to pay, what would...
Read moreSo, I was today’s years old (12/28) when I found out that The Village of Cross Keys even existed. This location is so elegantly trendy and I will definitely be back in the Spring to experience the outdoor eating scene. Now back to the restaurant.
This place was chosen by a friend to have her birthday brunch. Party of 13. The place was PACKED on a Saturday morning, which was a good sign that the food was good. We did not wait long to be seated. Our waiter was polite & patient. Sorry I forgot his name but he did a great job of explaining the menu items. With a party our size I was surprised that everyone’s meal came out at the same time AND was still hot, impressive!! Shout out to the cooks who got it all done. Some of us had been before and some had not, this was my first time. I wanted the Shrimp & Grits but the roux has pork products already in it, so I opted for Fried Chicken & Grits, scrambled eggs, home fries & white toast. I was expecting the grits to come spread out on a platter but they showed up in a cup scooped like ice cream and I doubted them instantly. BUT!! After digging in and taking that first bite I was so wrong!!! Those were some of the creamiest & cheesiest grits I’ve ever eaten, cooked to perfection, not grainy or lumpy, just thick, rich & plain GOOD. The chicken was seasoned well and so were the home fries. We ordered the Mimosa Sampler which came with a bottle of Prosecco and 3 purées: Peach Lavender, Passion Fruit & Orange. The mimosas were great. I think I found my newest favorite brunch spot. Not one complaint around the table, just good food, good drinks & good company!! You’ve got to get in there. Expect for it to be crowded but the atmosphere is...
Read moreI had a lovely experience here. Easy Like Sunday does not take reservations, so I was hopping when I drove to Baltimore, they were not going to say they were at capacity for the day or that I would have to wait too long. I came by myself, so I had the opportunity to sit at the counter or the bar, so I chose the counter.
They were extremely busy, as I expected they would be. The only con of my experience was having to wait several minutes for a waitress to come over to me, but after she did, everything else was perfect! Keep in mind, I knew it was busy, so I knew it would take a second for someone to come over to me. I wish I got my waitresses’ name. She was really nice and made great recommendations. I really enjoyed her energy.
I was stuck between getting the crab melt or the french toast but she let me know I could do a half order of french toast, so that’s exactly what I did and also got the crab melt. The buttery taste of the toasted bun on the crab melt was delicious and there was absolutely no filler in the crab. It was 5 oz. of straight up crab meat and it was delicious. The french toast was also good and the perfect level of sweetness.
I also got the sunday love to drink, which includes citrus vodka, elderflower liqour, strawberry basil, lemon, Prosecco, and a sugar rim. Definitely my type of cocktail. Perfectly sweet and the alcohol was hitting lol.
Everything I ordered also came out in timely manner even with them because very busy.
I also liked the casual yet cute vibe of the restaurant. I will be returning soon to try some more items on their menu or honestly get the exact same order because it was...
