4 stars for the market, 5 stars for the sandwich I ordered! The market is nice, a decent selection, but smaller than other Italian markets in the area. I thought the prices were a little high on some of the things I perused while waiting for my sandwich. But, this is not really a review about the market, it is about that sandwich! The Italian Combo (mortadella, capicola, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomatoes, shaved onion, hoagie spread, vinaigrette, hoagie roll). It was really amazing. I thought it might be impossible to beat diPasquale's Italian sammie, but this might just do it. The bread was amazing, firm and chewy without being tough enough to tear up your mouth by the time you are done eating. Really tasty bread too. The meats and dressing on the sandwich were fresh, bold and so flavorful. I don't know what is in the dressing on the sandwich, but it was so freaking good! I am really impressed by this sandwich. I ate the sandwich in the store at their counter space. My only complaint about that is that it is February and it is COLD in that store, plus the marble top was freezing to the touch AND metal chairs. I was dying by the time I left. I wish they could do something to warm up the...

A Delightful Lunch Experience at Zavino Italian Marketplace!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Today, I visited Zavino Italian Marketplace, located in the Village of Cross Keys at 58 Village Square, Baltimore, MD. Drawn in by their recent ad on CBS, I decided to stop by around noon, and I’m so glad I did! This place is a unique blend of a delicatessen, grocery, brick-oven pizzeria, and liquor store—a one-stop Italian culinary delight!

I ordered the Funghi White Pizza for $20, and it was absolutely fantastic! The pizza featured a delightful mix of flavors: creamy besciamella, roasted mushrooms, onion agrodolce, aged mozzarella, and fontina. It was topped off with just the right touch of truffle oil, all resting on a perfectly crispy crust, cooked to absolute perfection. Each bite was rich and flavorful, leaving me craving more!

If you’re in the mood for a delicious pizza, I highly recommend giving the Funghi a try—it's a must-have for pizza lovers. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of what Zavino has to offer. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch, some specialty Italian groceries, or a quality bottle of wine, Zavino is a delightful addition to...

Just tried this place for the first time this week! My partner and I have been looking for a new pizza spot since our other favorites have all closed (RIP Joe squared, RIP Pauline G’s 😢)

this place is legit! First, as soon as I walked in to pick up the order it smelled fantastic in there. Great sign. Second, they have a legit, dome shaped pizza oven. After reading the reviews, we decided to try out the Italian combo sub, the meatball sub, and a classic pepperoni pizza. Everything was fantastic. The meatball sub is to die for - incredible flavor in the sauce and the meatballs. The bread is delicious. The Italian combo sub has easily the best quality ingredients in the area. Again, the bread is fantastic and can really hold everything in! Finally, the pizza was excellent. Tasty dough, delicious red sauce, and perfect amount of toppings. Fired in the oven just perfectly.

When I walked in to get the order, I believe I spoke with the owner. He’s a great guy, and said that this would be our new fav spot! He was absolutely right.

It’s going to be hard not to eat that meatball sub...

The food here is consistently good, though I wouldn’t recommend the margherita pizza—it’s a bit too plain and lacks enough sauce and cheese to feel satisfying. I’m giving the service a 3 because, nearly every time I visit, the place seems short-staffed. The deli area is often unattended, and there’s no clear system—like a bell or sign—to let staff know someone is waiting. Today, I tried to order a deli item while in the cashier line (since no one was at the deli), and the owner/manager told me I was holding up the line and needed to order at the deli instead. Ironically, I had just convinced my family to place a takeout order, but this confusing and unwelcoming experience left a bad impression. The layout doesn’t help either—staff/manager in the kitchen have their backs turned to the deli, making it hard to get anyone’s attention. A simple acknowledgment like “Sorry, we’re short staffed” would’ve gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel like the problem. Not the best way to treat customers who are trying to give you more business.
