Unlike most of the other reviewers, I am reviewing good neighbor as an online retailer not as a cafe.Ā I was reading Architectural Digest online and came across stools I liked in a photo of a bedroom in a home tour.Ā The only information given was that they were "Max Lamb's stools."Ā I began a Google search and found out that the stools in question were Hem's The Last stools.Ā I found them available directly from Hem but also from good neighbor.Ā Being a smart consumer, I checked good neighbor's online reviews first.Ā Initially, I thought I was finding a different place with the same name, as the reviews were for a cafe, not an online retailer.Ā I eventually realized this was indeed the correct place.Ā As I wanted to support a small business, I bought the stool from good neighbor, who are a reseller for Hem.Ā I had two coupon codes.Ā Accidentally, I used the lesser coupon code when I confirmed the purchase.Ā I felt like a complete idiot.Ā Of course, I did this in the middle of the night on a Saturday.Ā I called good neighbor the next day, a Sunday, which must be a busy time for a cafe.Ā Everyone I spoke to and dealt with was so friendly, nice, understanding and reassuring.Ā They quickly corrected the problem for me though it was my fault, not theirs.Ā I want to especially compliment Nan, Shawn and especially Alexis Crooks.Ā From the point of the refund on, Alexis sent me personal emails including when the package was shipped.Ā Such good customer service. Such kindness. Thank you again, Alexis!Ā I received the stool very quickly and I really like it. Instead of having a negative reaction every time I look at the stool due to my error, I now will view this purchase in a very positive manner. To sum up, good neighbor is a lovely, sweet company that you can trust in doing online business.Ā I plan on buying from them again in order to show my appreciation for how nice they were with our first transaction.Ā I wish I was in their neighborhood so that I could visit their cafe.Ā I could not recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe got coffees to go. The Japanese iced coffee and Cloud Sweeper were very good!
The store is beautiful and I look forward to coming at a less busy time to look around. They also have a website with their products, which is helpful.
I am hoping that Good Neighbor will change their online orders from all āprepped on arrivalā to include an option to prep right away. I understand theyāre busy, theyāre newly open, and itās a pandemic, so orders will take time; however, during our extended wait outside we were repeatedly exposed to lots of unmasked people at close range. Until an option exists so that I can walk up and receive my order right away, I cannot come back.
ETA 9/26/20: we gave them another try and we wonāt be back. We ordered ahead and although we ordered and paid for cinnamon rolls, there were none left. The person at the counter had the absolute gall to say "ooo sorry you didn't check in.ā Was there a sign saying to check in? Was there a notification on the ordering system? No. Iām just supposed to know. Well when we got here I could see that there was only one cinnamon roll left for anyone so clearly they aren't putting accurate stock in their POS and it wouldnāt have made a difference if we had checked in. If they arenāt going to keep accurate stock in their POS they really need to pull baked goods as orders come in. My cash refund of the list price on the cinnamon rolls means 1) I didnāt get my money back for the tax I paid, and 2) I effectively tipped 40% on the two drinks we did receive. The drinks were so-so and took over 20 minutes to prepare once we arrived. I donāt relish being indoors in a crowded space for 20+ minutes in a pandemic but that seems to be the only option because they continue to refuse to prepare online order drinks as they come in. This whole experience was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a chaotic shop where it is hard to find the line. It is overpriced and has slow service. They run out of key ingredients to popular menu items.
This place has potential but they have to figure out how to be more efficient behind the counter and improve the flow through the shop. Everyone trying to order was trying to make sure they werenāt cutting anyone in line.
At 11 AM on a Sunday, they were out of eggs. For a place that primarily serves breakfast, that is wild. They said it would take 45 minutes for them to be available again for breakfast sandwiches. They only had one register and they would stop taking orders for several minutes between customers at times. Maybe they were short staffed this day, I am not sure. They need more than one cash register. They are trying to be a coffee shop, boutique hotel, plant nursery, and book shop/home goods store. I can appreciate the vision but that is part of what makes ordering so difficult. It is hard to tell if someone is looking at the home goods that are directly across from the register or if they want to order. They do have a fair amount of seating but with the books and the home decor on sale, I think people donāt know where to stand to 1) order food and drinks or 2) pick up food and drinks.
I got a matcha latte which was decent and bake goods which were good. Their larger plates (bagels and toasts) looked delicious from what I saw but they were out of eggs which was on the sandwich I planned to get and I didnāt want to wait awhile for my food to be ready if I ordered something else due to the slow line.
There is no parking lot and you have to try your luck with street parking. It is easier on weekends because there are less parking rules. It would really difficult to park there during the week given all the parking...
