I haven't gotten a corned beef sandwich from here in at least 10 years or so but I happened to be in the area so I stopped in to grab a late lunch to carry out. It looked exactly the same inside as I remember... a little rough around the edges, no frills deli counter. I got my favorite combination... corned beef on rye with melted provolone, French's yellow mustard and a little mayo plus local favorites Utz chips and an ice cold Everfresh juice. The sandwich cost about $14 (which is more than twice than what I remember years ago) but I have to say... it was worth it! The sandwich was packed with warm, delicious Baltimore style corned beef and I could only finish half of it. The staff were pleasant; when I mentioned that I hadn't been there in years, the lady that rang me up asked, "what took you so long?" with a smile. I'll...
Read moreSame knockout corned beef sandwich after all these years!! Finally made it back to Baltimore after a long hiatus, and my first stop was the bare bones / no frills Weiss Deli. I found out that the original owners finally stepped away a few years back, but the new ones had their A game in order. The no fuss ordering system made the line flow quickly, and the homemade corned beef was better than ever. Piled high on fresh rye bread, I’d put this up against ANY sandwich in the country. And oh yeah, it’s still only $10!! A true bargain. Even Katz’s in NYC couldn’t compete with this quality / quantity / price knockout punch! Don’t miss.a visit (or two) to Weiss when you’re in Baltimore. It’s worth every second you spend waiting for that...
Read moreToday was the first time in years that I've ventured back down to Lombard Street. My choice of returning to Weiss Deli was the right one. The Corned Beef Sandwiches are still packed hot and (very) high. Kosher pickles are still in a barrel, although not wooden, and you can no longer pick yours out with a Tong. The other thing missing is Suburban Club Almond Smash! But, Weiss Deli still has all the basics that this Jewish guy hungered for: great food, decent prices, nice local folks and paintings from years gone by of neighborhood Rabbi's. It doesn't get much better than Weiss for the old time Baltmore we remember as kids; if you ever went to Simon Harris store or to Sussman's Deli, Weiss is still part...
