I would give zero stars if I could. My brother and I checked into the Hyatt Place Baltimore/Inner Harbor hotel on 5/1. Me, my girlfriend and my brother had flown in from Tennessee for my best friends wedding. My brother, who is handicapped, experienced his first plane and hotel stay during this trip. My brother is in a motorized wheelchair. I called months in advance in preparation for his arrival, even requested a shower chair so he could shower peacefully without any issue. Upon arrival, my brother was told that the room that was originally booked for him, a king (hyatt grand bed) was under maintenance, so they put him in another room. this room was a 2 double bed room. after getting him settled we realized the ac wasn’t on and turned it to 71/72, assuming it would kick on and cool the room down as it was already set on 75. my brother laid down to rest as he had been traveling all day and when i returned to the room it hadn’t changed and it still felt warm. I called down to the lobby and asked for maintenance as this was not okay. maintenance came up and flipped a breaker. the a/c turned on and the man left. not to long after he left, the a/c turned off again. when I called down to the front desk they offered to put him in another room, but was not ADA compliant nor accessible. I took the room to get him into a cooler room with the impression that they were going to make arrangements to get him transferred to a room suited better for his needs. We arrived to the new room and got him settled, I checked the a/c and noticed it was sitting at 81. I turned it down and it seemed to have kicked on as I noticed on his side it had cooled down and could feel the air blowing. My brother, being tired and exhausted from not only traveling but moving rooms and being subjected to that environment wanted to go to sleep. When I checked on him during the night, his A/C was still sitting at 81. When I spoke to the hotel they advised that they did not have any other rooms available. We asked them for a fan, so that I could put it in his room to give him some sort of cool air. They brought us a broken fan that my girlfriend had to take apart and fix. The next day, I spent almost 6 hours getting everything settled. They moved us to a temporary room that had a/c, until there was one more suitable for him. At around 3/4pm on 5/2 they were able to find him a somewhat suitable room. it was not ada compliant nor accessible to what he needed, but at that point we made do. for this being my brothers first time staying at a hotel, it was very underwhelming and caused more stress then needed. i would also like to add that other members of this wedding stayed at this hotel and had the same issues of the a/c not working and having to change rooms. we planned, and we prepared, but we did not expect that the one place that we were suppose to relax at would be such a...
Read moreI'll never book here again as checking in I believe her name is Rachel says yeah it's $75 a night holding fee I say nowhere where I books did it say any of that she looked at me and struck her shoulders I said wow but okay got through that then was told it's $45 a night to park the car 🙄 But we found a really good garage that charge nowhere near that okay cool we got through that this trip was for my son who was turning seven that Monday so we was taking him to Baltimore to go swimming and see the harbor and see the museum... Upon entering the room to let the luggage down we was going to go straight to the pool but there's a sign on the nightstand that says you have to make a reservation for the pool I was baffled I was stunned So I called down to the front desk just to make sure what I was reading was right she got on the phone and said yes thats right But if Check in is not until 4:00 how is a person to make a reservation for the same night So irritated at this point.. I have a 6-year-old two 2-year-olds all excited to get in the pool... I never had to make a reservation for the pool anywhere I stayed okay moving forward they don't give you enough watch clothes and towels for the amount of people that the room can hold we had two full size beds and a pull-out couch You should automately have six bath towels six washclothes No they give you two washcloths for bath towels smdh So we had to call down for towels and guess what The phones don't work they can't hear nothing conveniently just annoying... So the next day come for our reservation at the pool we get the boys dress we go down there our key is not working to open the pool okay so we wait and we wait... As I'm about to go up to the lobby one of the desk ladies come down I say my kids not working she looks at me as if I'm interrupting her on the phone and says you have to go upstairs and get a key.... What is wrong with y'all with telling people what they need to know at the beginning instead of the end... Now I have to go up to the lobby with her in my bathing suit to get the pool key ugh ok get back to the pool come on boys let's go that was a no-go it's an inside pool so you would think they would warm the pool up because there's no sun to do it The pool was so cold it was so freezing The boy's teeth were chattering I tried to get in with the boys The most I can let the water get to was my thighs.. once I saw they were shivering I'm sorry yo we got to get out we can't do this they were so sad and disappointed I was disappointed from the beginning... Like I said we only stayed the weekend I couldn't wait for Sunday morning to get out of there I've stayed that cheaper places and was accommodated 10 times better... Let's not forget the fact that they have their marijuana smokers smoke outside the building so that when you're walking by with your kids the smoke just blows in...
Read moreThis Hyatt Place Baltimore/Inner Harbor isn’t the worst hotel, but I experienced a mix of positives and negatives that ultimately lead to an average, 3‑star rating. On the positive side, the hotel receptionists at the entrance made an excellent first impression. All staff members were friendly, attentive, and set a welcoming tone that I truly appreciated. However, even upon arrival, I noticed that the hotel entrance was noticeably dark at night due to insufficient lighting, which gave the exterior a somewhat uninviting atmosphere and could be a safety concern. I actually missed the entrance at first and had to walk back.
The lobby itself looked presentable, but once inside the guest rooms, the condition noticeably declined. I saw leftover pieces of tape stuck to the walls, suggesting old construction without proper cleaning. The carpets in the hallways and inside my room had numerous dark stains. The couch/sofa in my room had multiple worn and stained spots, and the paint on nearly every guest room door was chipped or peeling. The walls were so thin that I could clearly hear conversations and televisions from neighboring rooms, reducing privacy. While the bed sheets were relatively clean, the pillows, were inconsistent—some were soft and comfortable, while others were extremely firm and crunchy, as if they were stuffed with straw, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.
Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Compared to other Hyatt Places I’ve stayed at, this one offered far fewer choices. Most mornings, the options were limited to bagels, cereal, and a few cold items—no hot eggs or fried potatoes. On one day, hard‑boiled eggs were offered, but they were already peeled, slimy from overnight storage, and unappealing. Many guests threw out their eggs. Leave the shells of hard-boiled eggs on! At other Hyatt Places, I’ve enjoyed scrambled eggs, fried eggs, roasted potatoes, and oatmeal as standard offerings. Another downside: breakfast ended at 9 AM, which feels too early guests. Extending it to at least 10/11 AM would be much more guest‑friendly.
Great staff can’t fully make up for dim lighting, worn interiors, and an underwhelming breakfast. Management should invest in better lighting, room maintenance, and upgraded...
