Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Bangor Township

Good evening. We had the worst service tonight. Every other week my fiance and I have a date night at the Bay City Michigan location. We usually go for the late night apps but tonight we wanted regular meals so we went in around 8pm. The service is usually amazing with no problems, but tonight was different. We got greeted nicely and sat down at our table. A few minutes went by and our server Julie came to the table and took our drink order. While waiting for our drinks she came and threw the plates down on our table very aggressively and didn’t say anything and kept walking. We brushed it off, a few minutes later she brought our drinks. My fiancé ordered a captain and cherry Pepsi and I ordered a bahama mama. As she was sitting our drinks mine was spilling all down the glass and she sat it down on the table, it spilled all over the table, I said “woah” and she never said one word, offered to clean it up, just walked away. Very rude if you ask me. My fiancé took a drink of his drink and it was not captain and coke. We waited for her to come back by and when she did he explained to her the drink was not correct. She then got an attitude “well she used like actually cherry Pepsi” and he said “that’s not captain and cherry Pepsi” she looked at it very disgusted and said “well what do you want then” and he said “a captain and cherry Pepsi” she said okay, and walked away with an attitude. Got back to the bar, snobby, giving us dirty looks talking to the manager. The manager then brought a new drink over in a short glass when a tall was ordered. And stated “i was warned so i brought it over” my fiancé got upset with that comment because what was he warned about? The customer not getting the correct drink? He kept arguing back and forth, didn’t apologize for the mistake and basically blamed my fiancé for the wrong drink when it is clearly the staff making the drinks. We then got up and walked out. So… I once loved going to Applebee’s, they offered a decent selection of food suited for a middle of the road restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food offered was a great value and made me want to return again and again.

That was years ago, I must say that I hate rating food places as a single visit doesn’t and shouldn’t necessarily represent the overall quality of the restaurant in question. I, however, have bared witness to the fall of Applebee’s over the last several outings with the last being the final straw to force me to write this review, and note that my last and most recent visit was a few months ago, and I still hold these strong feelings towards my visit. I realize that Applebee’s is not a fancy restaurant, however, Previous experience have proven that they have cute the quantity and quality of food while raising the price.

My last visit, being the pushing point, had me order the 2 for 27, far more expensive then what I have paid previously, this could be forgiven. However, the quality of what me and a friend had received was far below the what we expected, the chips for appetizer were slightly stale and the amount of dip, though great tasting, was very limited in its quantity, as for the main course, the rice was very obviously from a microwavable bag and the chicken salad had less than adequate chicken. The only redeemable aspect of this experience was the service from the wait staff, which was overall average for the day.

This overall experience has put the final nail in the coffin, I will never spend money at an Applebee’s again. Everything that made te restaurant worth going too has been eroded, leaving an overprice, low quality, experience will little else going for it. In my opinion, send a bit more at a place like Uno’s for good quality food...

Ordered off the 2 for $35 got boneless wings for appetizer when they came out I thought they didn’t look quite right. After waiting another 15 minutes for our server to check back on us I let her know we didn’t have silverware. Took a bite of the wings and I couldn’t believe what they did. The cook dipped them in the wrong sauce bbq to be exact then must of realized it was wrong then dipped the same wings in the hot Buffalo sauce it was so bad I had to spit it right out. So we sat there another 20 minutes never checked in by our server again. Our food comes out and a differant person brings out our food them him what happened and his only reply was yah I see there are two sauces on them and it looks like it’s not e en the good honey bbq! I said there shouldn’t be any bbq on them your cook thought he could just hide what he did. So they make us more wings which now come out after we’re done eating dinner. My wife asked for another beer 15 minutes go by never see our server again for the 3rd time. Once we see her my wife asks when her beer will be ready. The waitress lies and says she ordered it as we watch her lunch it in and the ticket come up at the bar and it gets made right away and there it sat for another 10 minutes before she brought it and they were not busy she was nowhere to be found each time we ended up in this place for an hour and a half all because of bad service. Oh and spend $52.00 bucks for bad service bad food and ended up getting the food backwards app last. Not even offered anything or even an apology.
