I'm visiting Bangor and when I drove by and saw their sign saying they had the best drunken noodles in the world, I had to try. I've lived in bigger cities with excellent Thai cuisine and wanted to compare. Ordering in person through a screen door to a shoeless owner was odd, but sometimes ecclectic is part of the charm. He was kind, and even gave me a free soda while I was waiting. The drunken noodles were flavorful, but they used the thin rice stick noodles you'd normally find in Pad Thai, not the wide, thick, chewy noodles that make drunken noodles great. At $14 for a lunchtime order, they were also a bit on the pricy side. There's good and bad here. As for the claim that these are the best in the world? That myth is busted.

I ordered the pad Thai combo, the pad Thai was just a huge, solid lump of compacted noodles that I had to literally dig through and shred to even begin to separate it, the various little sides they included were not edible at all and to top it all off, I opened my chili sauce to discover a sizable bug floating around in it…legs and all! I had ordered though Uber Eats and they refunded me my purchase. I used to order from here all the time and loved their pad Thai and fresh spring rolls but this time was enough for me not to re-order!

This is my first time ordering from here and I’ve passed it hundreds of times. I ordered delivery (Uber eats) so I didn’t expect it to be as good as if I went and picked it up and ate near by, now I must say it is good very flavorful I got the Deuce Supreme lvl 3 spice. And it’s pretty good I do have to say I was hopeful for wider, thicker, chewier noodles than the thin rice noodles but the flavor is great and perfectly spicy.

Update from Jan. 2020. Food is still excellent & delicious!

Four years ago: Excellent food and outstanding customer service! I was driving north on my way Downeast when suddenly I was consumed by an insatiable craving for laab tofu, a spicy salad with Lao origins that comprises of tofu, chicken, or pork, etc., lime juice, hot chilies, fish sauce, kao kua, red onion, fresh cilantro, and fresh basil, served over lettuce with slices of cucumber.

Since it was almost ten p.m. on a wintery Tuesday, I realized that most restaurant kitchens had probably closed an hour ago, and sure enough, the first two or three places I called did not even pick up the phone. One restaurant answered but said they did not have laab on the menu. The next phone number was for Thai 2 Go.

With a sense of impending resignation, I pressed the call button. My luck was about to change: a cheerful voice picked up the phone and replied that while technically their kitchen was closed, they could probably still make me something. However, laab was not on the menu.

I explained how badly I was longing for it though, and soon heard the voice agreeing to make me a special order. Twenty minutes later I drove into Bangor to pick up my to-go box with a perfect laab tofu inside, along with the indispensable sticky rice.

Not many restaurants will make you special orders that aren't even on the menu, even fewer will do so after closing time on a Tuesday nightie, and far even fewer than that will then turn out a dish as delicious as a top Thai restaurant in Boston.

Needless to say, I'm impressed! And if my experience is any indication of their regular menu and of the way they treat their customers on a daily basis, then Thai 2 Go is a wonderful, delicious place to eat, where I intend to return as often...

Read the other one-star reviews! I’m not the only one. I picked up from here for Uber Eats yesterday. I will NEVER personally spend another penny here for myself after the husband owner berated me because I didn’t have a bag with me (which is not required by Uber by the way). Someone else from another food deliver service showed up while I was there…with a bag. The owner attempted to snatch the bag from underneath the driver’s arm to which she replied, “no thank you I’ll get it.” This other driver then also stated to the owner “you are impossible to pick up from.” Clearly she’s had similar experiences. When I asked why he was the only one (restaurant) who required a bag he threatened to call the police. Umm what?? I asked to please call them so they can see on the camera that I was just asking a question. When the food was finally done, he stood there stiff, refusing to hand me the customers food. He stood still with his right arm tight to his side with his elbow bent and the handle of the bag hanging off of his fingers. He stood there until I had to remove the bag from his hand myself AND when I tried to remove the bag, he began to curl his fingers to make it difficult to remove the bag. The customer I picked up for told me the wife owner berated the customers brother one time because someone else didn’t plow her driveway (I have the screenshot). And then my client shared her horror story about the way husband owner berated her when she picked up for Uber regarding the fact that she was in the way of his cameras. THIS IS HOW YOU RUN A BUSINESS?? Plus all the...

Amazing food! Great flavor! Very friendly staff. They gave me a free tapioca dessert with my order and that was amazing as well.

All of the order had fresh, flavorful ingredients and didn't leave me feeling sick afterwards like other restaurants do with their oily, greasy ingredients. One of the orders I had was the "surprise me", where the chef makes something not on-menu. I thought it was the best thing I ordered, and wish more restaurants had this option to allow chefs to be creative with orders!

Many of the dishes I ordered at spice level 3 and 4. I love spicy food, but level 4 was definitely hot. I can't imagine how level 5 is, but I'll find out next time I order! If you aren't a spicy kind of person, don't go above level 2.

I definitely recommend you pick up your order so the food is at its peak quality when you go to eat it, instead of waiting long for delivery service. Plus you'll get to meet the friendly owners there!

Don't be deceived by the quaint little building; this establishment serves some of the best Thai food in the area! I'll definitely be ordering from here again very soon. Don't expect to be seated or dine in since it's not that type of restaurant (which is perfectly fine, not all restaurants need to be dine in or have seating).

Note: I was so tempted to order a pint of the hot oil that was cooking in the pot when I was waiting for the order to finish. It looked and smelled amazing, maybe next time!

5/5 rating. One of the best...
