Came here in the summer and had a really bad experience. Flies and gnats kept swarming my food, I had to return it because I was genuinely worried about eating the gnats that kept landing in it. I think their AC was also off or broken, because myself and the other patrons were sweating through our shirts.
The staff was very nice though, and gave me a refund on the food. I did enjoy my drink, the nutella-coffee smoothie, though. It’s very good, but it’s 10$ for a small. I think the rest of the food is overpriced too, but coffee seems reasonably priced.
Visited again in the fall to see if they had the heat & flies under control, I know it’s really hard to keep flies out during summer, but they still had flies buzzing around all the lights this time, too. The seats, cushions, and shelves all look quite dirty and dusty, too. They also still keep the inside very warm. Please turn on your AC sometimes, Nest Cafe.
At least, the space is very accessible. I’ve had no issues getting in or out in my wheelchair, and the baristas are very...
Read moreThe smoothies are great, everyone knows it, however it's no different than any other Bangor local business that has hidden fees for the customer. Ordered one smoothie. Asked for blue spirulina figured there was a charge, which is fine. I asked if it was vegan, they said the vanilla has whey but they have a plant based one. They never told me on the phone it would be a $2.50 charge. So I get there and the SMALL smoothie goes from 11.50 to $15 and change somehow. Then I asked if they had regular straws, and the response to that was, "yeah, we're out of straws and napkins right now it kind of sucks" and I said it really does. And in the highschool got-your- first- job voice I hear the fake customer service response of no responsibility "have a wonderful day." Never going back. I'm from the local area and Bangors customer service at nest among others is "we think we are as good as New York or Portland Maine, let's charge $20 for everything while giving a half * service....
Read moreI have only been to the Nest twice and do recognize the food quality being good. However, I would like to give some feedback on the breakfast bowl. We were eating in the restaurant but the bowl was given to us in a to go box. Mostly I would note that there should be more oatmeal in the bowl and there were gobs of peanut butter - very unhealthy portion size on the PB. Maybe that was dependant on who happened to be cooking that day. So I would recommend more oatmeal and less PB. That would be much appreciated. I will make sure to ask for that if I order it again. I also asked for an iced coffee with a little cream. Instead, it was pretty much cream with the coffee. I would definitely recommend creamer on the side, unless you like very creamy coffee. I will remember...
