Brothers On Oak — Restaurant in Baraboo

I took on the 2025 Wisconsin Beef Counsel Best Burgers in the state of Wisconsin. There were eight places nominated for the best burger. I hit my last stop at, the Iron Horse, in Hurley Wisconsin. The other stops were; Straight Home from Elland , Brothers on Oak in Baraboo , The Dump in Cambria, Minn's in Menasha, Burgers and Beignets in Fond du Lac, Local Press Burger Bar Kewaskum and 11:11 brazenhead Pub West Bend. My criteria that I use to judge were: size of the burger, bun, prepared as orderd presentation, flavor, business ambience, and price. Here we go in order from worst to First. They fell into definite categories. There were three that were horrible or why were they listed! Then the, pretty good but left room for improvement. And the top three that were excellent and hired to choose from.

#1 Place Brothers on Oak Their third pound burger with fries and soda will set you back the lowest of the eight restaurants at a price of $13. Brothers on Oak scored perfect on everything. As mentioned it was a third pound burger served on a local bakery bun. The bakery is just across the alley, baked fresh everyday. The burger was served fresh and juicy and the fries were the best of the bunch as well! They were hot and crispy to bite into. In the area of ambience this would be the top. You can sit and enjoy your meal plus, there is an area with your pool tables, jukeboxes, DJ stand and dance...

This used to be one of our favorite places to go but after today that has changed. The service is absolutely terrible, the waiter/bartender is the worst! He rolls his eyes on what we ordered, never came to check on us, is on his phone, when my son went up to get a refill on his beer, he was on his phone and was told he had to wait. He never brought his beer, he was chatting with people and when my son was coming back to the table he saw him and told the people at the bar he had to get this guy something. He came to our table and my son asked for his beer. He didn’t bring the beer he originally requested, never apologized for his delay and had attitude when placing beer on table, he never asked if I wanted a refill. He then came to get our baskets, grabbed them and placed the bill on the table. Worst service ever!!! Now the food. Burger wasn’t as ordered and when delivered was told it wasn’t. Last time I came to this bar the food was great and the service was second to none, so we came back this time to get some drinks and enjoy our night (my wife and I). after sitting down and waiting for more than 10 minutes we finally had someone ask us what we wanted drink (only 4 other patrons in the bar and we waiting 10 minutes plus). Got our drinks and and my whiskey coke was basically a coke with sweat from the whiskey bottle, and my wife’s drink had zero alcohol in it. After ordering a double shot for both our drinks we still could barely taste the whiskey and decided to leave for a better place, 25 MINUTES, to get our check. Definitely would NOT recommend this place unless you enjoy weak drinks and waiting forever to get served. If you gonna spend $50 on a dinner and drinks don’t do it at this bar, go to Applebees and get some actual good drinks and way better and...
