A small town home run! The Village Booksmith is one of a few bookstores that I have gone out of my way to visit repeatedly. It's located on the idyllic town square in Baraboo, and the shop itself is quite homey and cozy. The massive shelves that line the walls of the shop are filled with well organized and well kept books of every genre. The owner is a friendly guy and is well versed on his inventory. The shop also has a collection of rare books, which are kept updated on the shop's website. It may not be the biggest used bookstore in the state, but the selection is certainly impressive, includes mostly used books and some new ones, as well as books on local and regional history, which can be difficult to find in other forums. If you're in the area, don't miss your chance to explore this...
Read moreMy husband was too kind. Avoid! We ended up with 2 books missing pages, 1 was $10! More than half were $1 -$2 less then brand new. All books were written in. One book my kids picked out in the children's section was not a child's book by any means. The owner was rude, didn't ask once to help or explain the lay out if the shop. He seemed like we as well as the few others who came in were a nuisance. We got 12 USED books and it cost us $78! Most were little kid books. Well how many hardcovers did you by, you may ask-3! A fannie mae cookbook, american girl cookbook-missing pages and had duplicate pages and an everhigh book. Stay away unless you want to be...
Read moreThis bookstore is a hidden gem. I love the variety of books. Rare books and great prices for being a small bookstore. I love that you can sit and look at the books in each section. For those that have a walker there is enough space for you to get through. The woman was helpful and friendly. My son and I really enjoyed our time there. Brought back memories when I used to take them to the bookstores. We would spend the day looking through the store and they could pick out a book. As adults they still have many of the books they collected through the years. Really a nice place with that bookstore smell. Still love having a...
