'Just Grill It ' is next door to the Travelodge Motel where I'm staying in Barstow, so I decided to give them a try. I read some of the reviews, and one reviewer suggested the chicken teriyaki bowl, and that's what I ordered with vegetables. I came late near closing time, and they had already locked the doors, and the sign on the door said they close at 7:00 instead of 8:00 shown online. There were two young ladies inside, and I heard one of them ask the other if she should open the door. The other young lady gave her permission to open the door, and they let me in and took my order. I'm a black man, so that in itself was a plus. I had been seeing this place but was a little hesitant about trying it because of the way it looks from the outside. It looks okay, but it was just something about its outside facade appearance that didn't necessarily appeal to me. But when I got inside I found it very clean. The sign says they offer a restroom for customers. I was very pleased with the meal, it was hot and didn't take long to prepare. The broccoli and cabbage vegetables were fresh and cooked just right, and the chicken was tender, and the rice was good. All the ingredients were of good fresh quality. The two young ladies working were very polite and courteous. I was able to eat it while it was still hot because the place is just a few steps, maybe a hundred feet from where I'm staying at the Travelodge Motel. I would certainly recommend this dish. A very enjoyable late evening meal. I'm glad I decided to try it and would definitely...
Read moreCustomer service could've been better. I asked about a shrimp bowl which the girl in front said she couldn't sell to me. Cool, I asked what's in the shrimp plate which contained rice and and a Orange. I aSked could I omit the orange for veggies she said no. Never offered me a dif option. I ended up getting the salmon and ask her how could I add a shrimp option to my plate She said well you can add that for $7. Idk why all my options wasn't offered to me or why the menu is lacking in offerings. Literally the spot was empty, she could've accommodated me. I don't mind paying more. I work in Food service myself and it felt like the effort wasn't made to help me. Food was okay....
Read moreI visited this restaurant hoping to find something similar to Japanese food. They serve dishes like Yakiniku Donburi. The taste was just as I expected and it was delicious. When ordering, they ask if you want chopped green onions on top, but I was a bit confused because my English isn't very good.
However, just like other donburi places in the US such as Yoshinoya, the rice cooking wasn't perfect; it felt a bit undercooked for a Japanese person, so it wasn't completely satisfying.
Even with the yen's depreciation, thinking that this would cost around 2500 yen in Japan makes me feel that the current situation with the strong dollar and high inflation has...
