Midway Cafe — Restaurant in Bartlesville

Not at all impressed! We've eaten here before and it was much better, but most of the times we've gone here, they were closed, even when they were advertised to be open. This experience is likely to be our last. We made our selections and ordered. The menu stated that my entree included a cabbage roll and tabouli or house salad with sides and a roll. After ordering, the waitress told me if I wanted the cabbage roll, it would cost extra. That's NOT how the menu reads. We argued a bit and I told her to forget the cabbage roll.

When my salad arrived, the lettuce was brown and rusty. Not at all fresh. It wasn't edible. By the time she brought my steak, I was in no mood for more disappointment. I ordered it cooked "medium", but it was raw, slightly injured and served in a puddle of blood. It either needed medical attention or to be cooked. I asked for a go box, took it home and cooked it myself. Totally UNACCEPTABLE! This used to be a nice place but I don't think they care anymore. With that being said, Neither do I. Midway cafe. The second restaurant I have tried in Bartlesville. Main meal was ok. Nothing to rave about. But the side salad was worrisome. I bit down not once , not twice but three Times into something hard. ( and it didn’t have croutons at all) I pushed it away. When I went up to pay, I noticed a German roach crawling on the cash register. Then my mind went back to the hard things in my salad🤮. I told the waitress about the bug. She didn’t even try to kill it so I did. I scooped it up with my receipt and gave it to her thinking she would show it to her boss and save it for their exterminator but she instead tossed it in the trash. This is worrisome. As a veteran cook and previous owner of a cafe I was very diligent when it came to cleanliness. My scores with the health department were 98-100 respectively. Please look into the cleanliness of your restaurant and make sure you have NO infestations. German roaches are the hardest to get...

1/11/24 So I had left a review about a year ago and wanted to update... this place has really really grown on me, ...I think I eat there once every week or two now and I haven't had anything that wasn't good. So just wanted to give them props and retract my previous 'mediocre' comment that I gave last year... this exactly why I almost always give restaurants three tries before never returning!

I love there fried catfish, and their chef salad is veryyy good. Also got a bowl of chili Thursday night and it was so darn good I bought an extra bowl to go!

1 year ago... Mediocre food for the most part but pleasant staff. I will say their chicken fried steak was pretty decent. They brought it out with the gravy on the side and it was crispy and tender. Was not a fan of the cubumber side dish. Didnt taste fresh, but they changed it out for extremely fresh fried okra right out...
