I must unfortunately agree with the other reviewers that gave this place a negative review.
I visited Brickhouse Buffet for dinner in Bartlett on the 7/27/18. I was anxiously waiting for this restaurant to open as there is a real lack of decent buffets here other than the same Chinese buffets that all taste the same.
I hadn't noticed it was open until I drove passed it and saw the parking lot filled with cars. I walked in and like one reviewer stated, you have to pay first to go into the buffet area (kind of like Golden Corral). I didn't mind until they stated that the cost of the buffet is $15.99. In my mind I was like "OMG", but since I was already there and was curious to see how it is, I decided to try it out. I assumed they must have something really good like steak, seafood, etc., since it's the weekend dinner and they just opened. Totally WRONG.
One thing to point out is that staff and service was EXCELLENT. It is part of the reason I did not want to give a bad review. The owners were very polite and nice as well. It had a great southern hospitality environment. They really treated everyone like a guest as you would at your house.
But the food was opposite. They had the following bars:
Salad Bar: Standard items you would find in a salad bar 3 Entree Bars: Contained beef ribs (no good, dont get your hopes up), mashed potato and gravy, fried catfish, hush puppies, canned corn, lasagna (looked off), mac and cheese, meat loaf, greens, fried okra, fries, imitation crab meat, fried chicken, honey chicken, and some other items that were irrelevant to me. Dessert Bar: Cake, Cupcakes, Peach, Cherry, and Blueberry cobbler, and Ice Cream Machine.
Honestly, they have a great location and have a chance to make this place a lot better if they offer better items for $15.99. Customers will not pay that much very long when you don't have better items in the buffet like shrimps, steak, fish, or some time of item that is appealing. Fried catfish won't cut it.
Hope the owners do well...they are very nice people and they have a great group of staff. But they have to change...
Read moreUPDATE. The general manager when I called was in the background saying things he shouldn't have been saying, especially while a customer was on the line. As I have worked in food services half of my life, one rule of thumb is, even if you don't agree, the customer is always right.. you treat them that way to start with.. it shows you care. Not in the background, saying " If it even came from here" in a tone also.. This upset me and the call went downhill from there.. the sweet lady taking my info even gave me food poisoning advice.. the only thing good that came out of that call. I read reviews pretty far back, your response is always the same. You tried the food that day yourself, blah blah.. I just don't understand how you can practice this way. Bad business and we fell sick simultaneously from whatever it was we ate there. Doubt you did an investigation. Tempted to contact health department. Unacceptable. People, read reviews and decide for yourself. Always the same sort of response. I didn't even ask to be refunded. Only to save others from the same pain. Thanks for reading this. Me and my spouse had lunch yesterday and both had the salmon(which was pale pink). I've never tried Salmon, so after getting sick I researched that it should be darker if cooked all the way. We have food poisoning as of 10 last night, simultaneously. Please make sure your sliced salmon is thoroughly cooked. Not a good mother's day gift for me if I must add. This is unexceptable. It may not have been the salmon, how am I to know?We hurt. And super expensive pain I also must add. 18.99 a buffet. Hope no one else has felt ill today from a visit yesterday. We will not be returning. Our 9 person family. Its not easy to get a time out and we wasted it at this restaurant and my...
Read moreJust ordered online and I got the vegetable platter it wouldn't allow me to add the four I wanted so I notated the other two I wanted to complete my meal in the notes box. My order was missing the other two I wanted so I paid $11 for two vegetables in tiny bowls! What a disappointment! I also got the lasagna and the creamed spinach those were good and a fair amount. Definitely not an italian lasagna it is a soul food type of lasagna. The green beans have no flavor couldn't eat them. Spit those out. I thought they would have a more soulful flavor with bacon and potatoes but they tasted yuck.
Update: My review was a three star until I saw the response from the owner. Changed my review to one star because to leave out food I paid for and not try to reimburse me somehow is bad business. I'm on bedrest and have to rely on other's to pick up my food for me. I couldn't just go back up there because I had someone else pick up my food for me. Trust I asked the person but he said they were closed. I'm glad your changing the menu for other people but a bit upset you left out what I ordered. When you say four vegetables come on a vegetable platter I don't expect to accept getting two but paying for four. I expect it to be resolved for me as well and my card charged for two add on veggies instead of an entire platter. Good for future orders though I guess. I'll go somewhere that seasons the food better and actually gives you what...
