Some of there dishes are okay but I feel sorry for people on this area if they think this place has great Mexican food. Although o have to say I haven't felt compelled to complain about their medeocra food and lack of friendly service until today when I was sick and the only thing that sounded good to me was a bowl of tortilla soup. First of all the man who took my order on the phone...of which I am pup sexually not calling a gentleman...was rude and abrupt when taking my order. Then I was even more disappointed to have picked up a room temperature bowl of soup that a can of Cambells would have more flavor than, with Sry pieces of chicken that they didn't even bother to take the skin off of and threw in some raw pica de gallo in for I supose to try to give it some sort of flavor but rather just leaving it with a crunchy nasty texture and flavor from the overpowering raw onions. Oh yes...and to the guy who took my order and abruptly answered yes when I asked if it had cheese and avocado...Maybe you need to double check that because I wouldn't count one tiny little piece of avocado smaller than my spoon and one little piece of cheese as a part of the soup. More look like a little piece of some accidentally feel in. In conclusion I will not be eating at this restaurant ever again...not just just because the food is horrible, the staff is unfriendly but because even when I tried to talk to the manager about how bad the soup was he gave a "could care less attitude"....That's okay...keep making it that way and unfortunately one day the people of Bastrop are going go some day taste authentic Mexican food and you will care because they will no longer lower their standards...

The servers know the menu well enough if you order by number, they tell you the title of your dish. This is not your run-of-the-mill one meat restaurant.
The fajita meat tastes like and is seasoned like fajitas regardless of the dish into which it goes. The gravies and sauces are wonderful.
The tamales are fresh and tender. The tortillas did not come out of plastic wrap. The guacamole tastes good on a spoon.
The deserts are served on an elegant plate the way you would expect at a five-star French restaurant. The menu holds a full width of traditional non-alcoholic and alcoholic Mexican drinks, not just premixed margaritas, Corona and Dos XX. For true Southern Americans, the sweet tea is fabulous.
The restaurant has a warm family atmosphere. You will pay less than you expect for a traditional...
Read moreWe went to have breakfast Sunday morning and after being seated we saw chips ALL over the floor with floor also wet from a spilled glass of some liquid, after we had finished our meal there was a family that walked in and sat beside us on next table, they had two small kids but one of them had the “Salt Shaker” and was licking the salt from the shaker neither one of the parents took the shaker away, we mentioned it to a waitress she told what looked like a manager but nothing was told the adults of that table. Remember other people come into that restaurant “and will use that salt shaker”. I had to get up and bring it to the attention of the parents. I’m very disappointed in the restaurant not because of the kid licking the salt shaker but because of the cleanliness and when addressed to staff they said they would clean shaker when they left. More than likely shaker...
